Angel 2x22 There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb - Early Access & Full

We are here at the end of Angel Season 2!! Goodness, I am relieved (VERY MUCH SO) about a particular aspect of this episode ๐Ÿ˜…

I loved the little surprise at the end here, but I have to truthfully admit that I wasn't expecting it AND I'd also sort of forgotten that Angel needed to be told the news. So much went on in this episode, that what happened on Buffy wasn't even on my mind when watching.

I hope you all enjoy and are ready for Season 3! I know there are mixed comments and feelings about Buffy season 6, so I hope Angel season 3 is generally well liked ๐Ÿ’œ I did prefer this season more than the first one but I think that's mostly understandable. They were just getting their feet in the first, getting established (though I still miss Doyle). Season 2 had SO much happen with Darla and Dru as well, and felt like most episodes were really solid and well done!

Oh WOW that is cool to know! You and me both are on this little journey together then!!

Honestly, I am often surprised that Angel doesn't get involved as much as he should do - but then I guess it's just too difficult with regards to production. Angel should have absolutely helped with Glory!

You've started Sweet Tooth? Nice! Yeah, it also took me a minute to recall everything that had happened previously as well. I'm very old and forgetful though Juliette, what's your excuse? ๐Ÿ˜œ Once you've finished with Sweet Tooth I'd love to compare thoughts on season 3 and it's conclusion. As for Angel, like you said, Wolfram & Hart have been the main threat so far and their scheming always seems to either involve Angel directly, or he'll get drawn into it one way or another. Let's see if it continues that way as the series goes on.

From now on sharing your journey in Angel will be even more interesting to me. I don't remember if the air dates here in Germany were completely off back in the day, or if there's another reason but I have seen Buffy S6 and 7 but not Angel S3. I know some really huge spoilers because I saw Angel S4 and 5 though. But I am really intrigued how they'll get there.

I wonder (and don't recall) if in the endphase of Buffy's Season 5 they addressed that Angel has disappeared from LA (the Scooby's would want to bring Angel to help and prevent the apocalypse, wouldn't they?)

Oliver

Killing a beloved character like Lorne off like that really would have been very bad writing and disappointing. Buffy sacrificing her life to save her sister and the world is a completely different story. Just to undo it like Lorne's "death" would be really cheap storytelling and would belittle her story arc from Seasons 1-5 completely.

Neil ๐Ÿ’œ Guess what?! I finally started Sweet Tooth Season 3 last night! I've watched the first episode. I forgot a LOT that had happened in the last two seasons haha so it all came back to me in bits and pieces over the episode! I can't wait to see what happens! Yeah, there wasn't really a "big bad" at the end of this season and I wonder if they just don't really do that on Angel? It might be too similar to Buffy if they did. I like that W&H seem to be ongoing. It feels like the seasons might tell a story as a whole, rather than by season to season! Thank you, Neil ๐Ÿ˜บ I'm glad you enjoyed! I am SO HAPPY that Lorne is okay! He must be forever protected!!

I'm so pleased to know that Angel has mostly strong seasons! That's given me a bit of relief going ahead. I remember when I first started watching Buffy, people would apologise for the first season and tell me it gets better! They clearly have their characters and craft mastered by the time we got to Angel as it's just been great from the beginning!

Juliette Gaming

Yeah, I don't think I realised about the UCK at the time! I'm glad that thing is gone. It's little wonder Lorne didn't want to be in that world - it's truly vile!

Juliette Gaming

I quite liked it!! Looking back, I did think the Darla and Dru and Angel thing went on for a bit longer than I'd like, but now that I am at the end I think it worked out really well and was exciting. It reminds me of when we see Angelus - I never like it when it's happening as I am so anxious and want to get back to "Good Angel" but it's something I can appreciate afterwards when I know everything will be okay ๐Ÿ˜…

I think you will enjoy season 3 just fine. Many of the writers from Buffy are also penning episodes of Angel. Joss Whedon and Tim Minear, the show runners, have brought their expertise from Buffy to Angel. Personally, I don't think there are any weak seasons on Angel but If I am forced to choose, I would rank the seasons thusly...... #1 Season 5 #2 Seasons 2&3 #3 Season 1 #4 Season 4 If someone were to argue for any particular episode or story arc in a given season, I might be persuaded to change my rankings. I hope you realized during editing that the device Cordy destroyed after killing High Priest Silas, which you didn't seem to recognize, was the Universal Cow Killer, or UCK (my acronym).

I do wonder if season 2 played out the way they originally planned it. It seemed like Darla was going to be the big bad of the season but then she kinda just disappeared (as did Dru). The way it did end was very good though in my opinion. The different dimension storyline was a fun one, and had a very different look to what we're used to with Angel. I very much enjoyed your reactions to season 2 and I can't wait to see what you think of season 3. Thanks as always Juliette and I hope you have a great day.

Neil Hanson

Congrats on finishing season 2! This may be the most disjointed season, but itโ€™s so good too! Really looking forward to seeing what you think of season 3!
