Buffy 5x21 The Weight of the World - Early Acess & Full

Hello! I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead of you. Something a little different with this one, I managed to upload the FULL version to Youtube as I was a bit worried about running out of space on Patreon. Unfortunately, don't get used to it ๐Ÿคฃ I've tested it out with another episode and it got copyright blocked, even with the logo on top of it. So I'll just keep the full episodes here from now on, but since it worked out for this one I'll just keep it like this.

Hope that makes sense ๐Ÿ˜…

A really nicely done episode. It felt like we went back a few years with Willow and Buffy's friendship, when it was mostly just the two of them and it was actually so lovely. Willow and Buffy are the type of friends that would stand the test of time and are able to overcome so many obstacles. Willow really came through for Buffy in this one ๐Ÿ’œ

Buffy 5x21 The Weight of the World - Early Acess & Full

I find this episode almost harder to deal with than The Body, because it's so realistic and tangible that being so overwhelmed and traumatized will lead you to being shut down. I still appreciate that they showed it though, it really humanizes Buffy that we so often see as being a heroine without caveats.

Bossy Willow is great :-D Your belief that Ben would do the right thing, even after he gives Dawn up, is testament to your own goodness. I wonder how much of his decision is influenced by Glory's - monumentally self-involved - personality bleeding into his own.

SO true!! I can absolutely relate to her. I can't cope when it all gets too much, either. Poor Buffy ๐Ÿฅบ

David!! I love that vision. As hard as it is sometimes, it does feel like a bit of a comfort knowing that you all have gone through this, too. It's worlds away from season 1. I had no idea. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". What a name for a show, right? Goofy, kinda kitsch. And it's turned out to be this huge and magical thing.... Wow.

As you no doubt surmised, the finale will not be a near-fatal dream visit by the first slayer as we had in season 4. Although, we came close in this episode (well, a cameo by the first slayer anyway). Your empathy for the characters Is so palpable that we wish we could comfort you. Therefore, imagine if you will all of your fans taking you by the hand and saying, 'There, there, everything will be alright.'

There is a ongoing theme of Buffy closing herself off when things get to stressful and this episode tackles that by making her literally shut everyone out. After willow gets through to her she finally cries and shows real vulnerability. Riley was right about buffy constantly being the slayer all the time trying to carry those burdens by herself and not being able to let others help her.

Off Buffy topic, but If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend the film that Joel Grey (the demon, 'Doc') won his Academy Award for in 1972, called Cabaret. It's a brilliant dark musical that deals with the rise of Nazism during the late Weimar period in Berlin, and how ordinary people were lured into apathy, a false sense of security, and making excuses whilst evil rose up around them. Wonderful film, one of my absolute favourites, and it basically swept the Oscars a year later with 10 wins, including best supporting actor, best actress, best director, and best picture. Joel Grey and Liza Minelli are fantastic in it.

Buffy, Ben, and Dawn are all in very similar situations. All three are supernatural beings that didn't choose to have the weighty lives they do. They would rather have a nice normal life. But one of them will have to kill one to save the world.

I really like this episode. Unlike the previous seasons penultimate episode it's not very action packed but it does highlight the friendship between Buffy & Willow and the extent to what the latter will go to in order to save her friend, Right from the scene where Willow takes charge to the final scene in Buffy's mind you can see the strength of their friendship. Also loved the Willow/Anya scene which shows the growing relationship between the two which has been very rocky since the Doppelgangland episode. But ever since this seasons Triangle episode there has been a growing acceptance and the fact that Willow entrusts Tara to Anya says a lot. Anya's second 'good luck' is nicely done. Great reaction, looking forward to the next which incidentally is the shows 100th!

I might go there if I run out of space here! It would definitely be my next avenue ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Juliette, an idea for future episodes, many reactors upload their reactions to google drive which seems to work well.
