Doctor Who The Waters of Mars - Early Access

I'm so sorry, but this edited episode has the logo on it. I hope that is okay!

This was genuinely one of the scariest episodes I've seen on Doctor Who. I could barely look. I really, really enjoyed this episode. The ending was so eye opening and incredible. I feel that these specials, and certainly series 4 itself, has just been phenomenal. Great writing, compelling stories, a brilliant cast. I adore it 💜

Doctor Who The Waters of Mars - Early Access

Comments

There is an alternative universe story about the Timelord victorious and the lengths he goes to even bringing Rose back but the story is a little complex and spans multiple forms of media

Sheriff

The Doctor, The only enemy The Daleks fear.

Colin 3of5

As you are about two weeks ahead, I wolud say that your comment about the great writing and compelling stories has just increased even more. Glad I bought all them stock in tissue producers :)

Michael Champion

I love that the Doctor's "heroic" arrival back at the base is backed by the same music that accompanied the reveal of the Master in "Utopia". It tells you everything you need to know about what's really going on, and why this is definitely not a good thing, before he even says a word.

Steven Cooper

OK, thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if you were referring to the youtube edit or the video posted here. I do appreciate your clean edits so I'll be glad to see more of them in the future.

Tomáš Polák

There's a Korean series on NETFLIX called 'The Silent Sea.' Check it out. You'll see why.

Martin Holt

FUN DETAIL: the Mars Base was named BOWIE BASE. As in David Bowie, of the famous song 'Life on Mars.' Cute.

Martin Holt

Neighbours is where I know him from. The character he played was the cousin of the character played by Kylie Minogue

Spikle

She might, but she was also good at putting things into perspective and stopping him from abusing his power.

Jim

This episode shows how the Doctor and the Master are separated by a hair's breadth.

Keef Baker

I loved this one. Seeing it again, I still do. Such great acting from David Tennant. Seeing him struggle so hard to not help but finding himself stepping in. And his whole confidence after saving them. Like he was going through a rush of sorts. Like he could do anything like he said. But after he heard the gun shot he knew he did wrong. So brilliantly done. Even the way he talked you could tell he didn't care as much as he normally would with the humans. He was more “alien”, so to speak.

Larissa Reimer

The Song of the Ood is beautiful. Right up there with that one particular Dalek song, for me as my favourites!

Juliette Gaming

I could barely look at those awful monsters. Those poor people ☹️

Juliette Gaming

I do wonder though if Donna were there, would she encourage him to save them, too? It's such a sad outcome, but so well done!

Juliette Gaming

Honestly, that is SCARY to think of! It could be anything... Reapers is a terrifying answer, though!

Juliette Gaming

Lee, thank you so much 🥰🥰

Juliette Gaming

SO COOL!!!

Juliette Gaming

We absolutely NEED a companion to ground him a little, but it is nice to see him "lose control" every now and then!

Juliette Gaming

I mentioned it in the little blurb, but I didn't edit a clean version this time. I will if people really want it, but I do apologise again!

Juliette Gaming

I (maybe weirdly) love a lone Doctor as he's just that little bit more unpredictable!

Juliette Gaming

Ariana what are you doing here 🤭

Owen Spence

OMG hey Lee lol

NNC

God damn this episode is incredible. Absolute 10/10. David knocks it out of the park with his performance too. Also, the Song of the Ood is so hauntingly beautiful it triggers my emotional response every time I hear it!

Chris Janes

This harks back to classic Doctor Who with the darker, scarier story, such a brilliant episode. The Next two are the best of this Doctor imo, such a great story and I can't wait for your reaction.

The Rising Ape

This is definitely one of the scariest episodes 😂

Warrior Man

Love this episode. Very reminiscent of The Thing, and the "Time Lord Victorious" is a great arc for the Doctor, giving a glimpse of what he could be without a companion to ground and "humanize" him.

Kal Zekdor

That's a great insight about the 4 knocks thing hanging over him. I think if that was not so, in the same circumstances, he would not have taken this to the extreme he did. As it's not just what he did, it's the dark and scary manner and mood in which he did it. I think his reasoning is definitely shaded by it.

BobBob

I love this episode so so much

Emmy

I didn't think about the reapers once. Didn't cross my mind. In 2009 my mind was fixed on how far "The Timelord Victorious" would now go. My immediate thoughts turned to the time war & Rose & Donna. There is nothing now that can stop him altering his history!! How exciting & bloody scary!!

Jason

gotta say, it really was something having already seen this episode several times and watching your happy reaction to him "saving" them. the Doctor really should never travel alone. looking forward to the next special reaction.

Jim

Wish I'd seen it in the cinema, couldn't really afford to go to the cinema when I was a kid so I had to settle on the 28inch tv we had in our living room

Tobly

Incredible isn't it? All the S4 trailers were epic including the cinema trailer. I remember seeing it in the cinema - https://youtu.be/qfEPQqHx40c?si=GzeFPxPbg56kMopb

Jason

Question: just before the Captain shot herself, what does everyone think was about to happen? My guess - the Reapers (S1, 'Father's Day ') were coming.

Martin Holt

Bit of a stretch that. It doesn't say when. It only says the beginning of the end (Who knows when that is?) & Planet Of The dead has already said "You take care now because your song is ending sir..He will knock 4 times"

Jason

He's not just Australian, he is The Flying Doctor! His name is Peter O'Brien, and I think he was in Neighbours as well.

Chris Green

Actually there is somewhat of a s spoiler for the future at the very end with the tacked on voiceover.

jsm

Edited now, I try not to spoil but I got carried away writing that comment, thanks to guys who pointed it out that I accidentally spoilt future episodes

Tobly

This has become such a lovely weekly tradition to revisit my favourite era of the show through new eyes, just wanted to say I appreciate the reactions!

Lee Dawson

One of my absolute favourite episodes of the 10th Doctor & I continually rewatch it every year!! The story, the supporting cast, especially Lindsie Duncan is just superb!! Not many stories are told about fixed points & this is of course one of them. When each character dies it hurts, a gut hurt & those final moments between 10 & Adelade just incredible. That's how close our Doctor can be to becoming "The Master" & a companion will always ground him. A spellbounding episode, just adore it!! 🥰

Jason

Generally forgot about this trailer, still gives chills

Tobly

Yep, the Doctor can be really scary. The Timelord Victorious is a glimpse of what he could be without a moral compass and without the "little people"reminding him from time to time.

Oliver

The video posted here is the same one as the linked Youtube edit with the logo. Will the clean version be posted separeaely or no clean version this time? Thanks :)

The OG BBC One trailer to remind 8 year old you! - https://youtu.be/5YyNly0uEmA?si=4THbLZ6uoHP9bAOd

Jason

This is the original BBC One trailer for this, it spooked the hell out of me as a kid 👀 - (There are no spoilers in it) https://youtu.be/5YyNly0uEmA?si=4THbLZ6uoHP9bAOd

Jason

I was 8 when this episode aired and the bbc displayed a message warning that kids under a certain age (I think 12 but I can't remember now) should not watch it, my dad told me that I could watch it because he and my oldest sister were going to watch it with me and they both thought that doctor who wouldn't get that scary Oh boy were we wrong, this episode still somewhat scares me now, I think it's the way that the flood looked when it infected the humans and the scary concept that 1 drop of water can infect/kill you

Tobly

This is my favourite episode of David's tenure on the show. It shows just how far the Doctor can go without a companion at his side. As Donna said herself. "I think you need someone to stop you." Little thing you may not have noticed. When Steffi says "They're on the roof?", you can see the Doctor also says it to himself. He also figured it out at the same time but didn't say it loudly as he knew he shouldn't interfere. 36:55 (full) / 13:12 (edited) for timestamp. And the Ood at the end is called Ood Sigma (he has the Sigma notation on his outfit). He is the same Ood who was secretly turning Mr Halpen into an Ood.
