Buffy 5x19 Tough Love - Early Access & Full

Gosh, WiIlow has come such a long way, hasn't she! She's AMAZING! Do you remember back to the time when she was just learning to float a pencil?! I might be a little silly at times, but I wonder if magic is real and you can really do a spell.

Not in the way Xander does a spell.

But a real spell!

Now I want to try ๐Ÿคฃ

Have an awesome weekend ๐Ÿ’œ

Buffy 5x19 Tough Love - Early Access & Full

Willow's spell in this episode is one of the best written in the entire show in my opinion. She calls on Kali, Hera, Cronus, Cthonic, and Cassiel, which is just freaking perfect for what she's trying to do. Kali in some of her destroyer aspects is considered to obliterate evil in defense of the innocent, and is also the embodiment of the power of destruction, the Greek goddess Hera is known from stories to be insanely wrathful and murderous towards anyone who threatened her relationship, Cronus was a Greek titan who sliced off his own father's genitals with a sickle (also sometimes personified as death itself, because of the sickle or 'reaper' image), Cthonic (sometimes pronounced 'tonic') refers to the underworld and those that inhabit it, and Cassiel is sometimes known as 'God is my wrath', 'Angel of tears', and in some traditions the actual Angel of death. Perfect choices by the writers to have Willow calling on some of the most powerful and destructive entities when she's enraged and trying to go after a hell god.

No, it doesn't make sense to invent a new character for her to take care of

Mo

Since the whole show is essentially about growing up, it does make sense to write out the mother (as cruel as it is) and write in the younger sibling that Buffy has to take care of.

Oliver

Ah yes, I did! I think I was waffling over that scene at the time! Need to zip it more haha ๐Ÿคฃ Good ol' Ripper!

Willow was SO amazing when she took on Glory! She's been hiding all that skill from us, it seems!

Juliette Gaming

That is very true!!

I know?! Why is this going so fast? I think about it sometimes and it makes me stop in my tracks. From here on out, we have juuust under a year left of Buffy. Watch it FLY by in what seems like a few months. Why does it go so quickly? Where does it go? That crazy year of 2020 still feels like not long ago and 4 years have passed? I'm sorry... what?!!

Juliette Gaming

Confession - I've actually dabbled with crappy magic spells when I was a teenager! Just silly love spells. They did NOT work ๐Ÿคฃ

Juliette Gaming

I wish that was a thing ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ to have Joyce back... But the problem is that I'm now attached to Dawn, too. It seemed like a simple solution back then and now... Sigh!

Juliette Gaming

I SO needed to hear that!! It's been a bit of an annoying afternoon and you've really helped so much. Thank you ๐Ÿ’œ

Jules, you cast a spell on all of us every time we see your gorgeous smiling face introducing every video.

re: how does Glory know what the brain sucking feels like, maybe it's how she starts to feel when she needs to refuel? Because she does seem to be in quite a bit of pain when she's running low on brains. Your past theory about Dawn swapping her health with Joyce's would've been so interesting... if only!

Mo

Given how the stories on the show unfold, farfetched theories are not always so farfetched. Keep spinning them. Perhaps you caught this while editing, when Giles was interrogating the minion in the Magic Box and asked Willow and Anya to get him some twine, we heard a definite cracking sound (and the captioning said [Crack]) when their backs were turned. This explained the minion's sudden cooperation. Ripper was back for a moment.

I get why you didn't want Willow and Tara to fight but never fighting could also be an issue. They are a couple and learning how to deal with fights and overcome them is a crucial part of growth in a relationship. It's just a shame that Glory interfered before they were able to reconcile.

Oliver

This was a very emotional episode concentrating heavily on the Buffy/Dawn and Willow/Tara relationships. The Willow/Tara argument, whilst feeling a little contrived, does lead to one of the best confrontations in the show when Willow seeks to take revenge on Glory for what she did to Tara. Which is reminiscent of Giles taking on Angel after he killed Jenny . The fight which is ultimately a one-sided affair does show off Willow's increasing magical prowess with a wonderfully OTT entrance and the line "I owe you pain". Thankfully, thanks to Buffy's intervention, we get to live another day! Also loved Spike's intuition that Willow would go after Glory, a nice little call back to Something Blue when he intuitively knew that Willow was not over Oz leaving. Loving your reactions, only 3 episodes left!

Dyrla

I just realized how close we are to the end of this season. It feels like last week that you first started season 5 lol Nothing wrong with having an activate imagination, it's a blessing imo. :)

Michael Short

I would love to see you try to perform a spell!
