Gaming Channel Update & Chat!

I posted it on the channel as well for members only, so this one here is the same as that one.
I just had a few things on my mind and wanted to talk about it, and to also get advice/opinions/suggestions. It can be really hard sometimes, knowing what to do. I just want to do things that make me and others feel happy ๐ฅน

2024-06-26 21:29:07 +0000 UTCA few people mentioned BO3 wasn't worth playing, so I never really tried it โน๏ธ I'm not sure if I want to record any CoD type games for a while for the reasons I mentioned in this video. The analytics showing just what people watch is eye opening and really sad! I never realised that so much was getting skipped ๐ฅน

2024-06-26 21:09:45 +0000 UTCYou've made some amazing points here! I think a lot of let's play videos ARE being replaced by streams, now that more people are streaming on Youtube. I've kind of considered streaming as I tried it a while back and enjoyed it, but it is a bit stressful at times. I think I'm too introverted, that's a big issue as well! I totally agree about dropping games! I always keep going as it makes a channel look really bad to have a bunch of unfinished games. The only game I remember stopping was Monkey Island 2 because it was too hard and I had to keep getting hints and then I felt like a failure for not getting it without a hint ๐คฃ

I've only played one Zombie CoD game before and it was too hard and too scary so I never went back haha! Yeah, I totally agree with you! I've always wanted the videos to feel like you're just sitting down with a friend who is playing a game or watching Buffy and just hanging out. I don't think I'll ever be "professional" with what I make or create as it's just not really me. I'm so glad you understand!

I love that you're so matter of fact about my dilemma! And you know what, you are absolutely correct! I really should just do the gaming videos that make me happy and bring joy - why do I make things harder by thinking too much ๐ Simples! I'm so much happier with the videos I've been making lately as I feel they are so much more "me" ๐

2024-06-26 20:27:37 +0000 UTCHear what you say about COD, but you should try Black Ops 3 and Black Ops: Cold War. Black Ops 3's campaign is amazing IMO. If you like fantasy/sci-fi and mind bending plots, you aren't going to get much better than Blops 3. I think a lot of the negativity stems from it's lack of connection to the rest of the canon (though there are a handful of references throughout) as opposed to any genuine gripes with the quality. I think it would have got a far better reception if it was it's own title as opposed to an entry into the Blops universe.

2024-06-26 07:52:29 +0000 UTCI'm currently watching your Cyberpunk playthrough, and I can't express enough how much I'ld love to see you trying The Witcher 3, by the same company. If you haven't played it yet. It would last for a while since it's a masssive game but every second of it is just amazing. To this day it remains one of the most acclaimed video game ever and an absolute GOD Tier game to the gaming community. This game is to me what Doctor Who is in terms of quality, story-telling, writing, emotions.. Doctor Who is my favorite show, The Witcher 3 is my favorite video game.. I hope this made you want to give it a try if you haven't played it yet ^^

2024-06-26 06:41:44 +0000 UTCPersonally I like watching you play basically any game, especially games that I have previously played. I tend to not watch videos of games that I haven't played or are newly released for the most part, and I know I'm an outlier, I can watch about a 1 hour gameplay without problem while I work. I like the random games a lot because honestly it just gives a breather (4 episodes of the same game in a row can become sort of stale in a sense like eating the same meal on repeat) I think you can always play new games and explore new game series, You can always play the next COD or Halo or AC later on if you want to. The only problem is retention of viewers in general, if you constantly switch it up you will lose viewers who enjoy some consistency or only come for a particular game/video style. Personally I think a big issue is creators getting to hung up on the analytics side of things drawing out anxiety in content creators where they start obsessing over positive number gains. Then combine that with the fact that most the time when people play games new, its streamed so LP's get less views just by nature of the medium, you are essentially competing for views against livestreams and also by VOD channels. Either you grind away to make a solid community that watches your content, or try and luck out and find a niche type of content you enjoy making that just also happens to coincide with a community of people who enjoy that content. I'm a serious outlier here in that I can not stand VODs or livestreams of video games for a litany of reasons. Ultimately it is up to you how you wish to proceed, but I will give you one strong bit of Advice: if you ever are playing a game and you come to not enjoy it part way through, level with your audience and end it off professionally. Too many times have I seen LP's dropped with nary a word until you randomly discover that the Content creator wasn't having fun with it months later in a comment section.

2024-06-26 06:03:01 +0000 UTCHey Jules I didn't realize you had a gaming channel. I personally don't like 1st person shooters. I'm more into strategy and roleplaying like Balder's Gate or Dragon Age. Did you know Sarah Michelle Gellar did one of the characters for Call of Duty Black Ops Zombie Map. Do what makes you happy. I can't watch someone who comes across as just doing a job. Much better to watch someone who is passionate and happy about what they are doing.

I don't mean to sound glib, it's just I see it as that simple. Your happiness comes first. That's the bottom line for me. And you can always change up the gaming videos again if you felt that was best at some point in the future. Most of all, no one wants to tune in to find a sad Jules. But for now, it sounds like you need to give your decision some space. Sometimes, these things seem simpler and clearer after a good night's sleep. Big Hugs, from a fellow over-thinker๐

Can't really afford to do Pateron and be a YouTube member at the same time. 2nd, I admit I'm not that interested in CoD, Assassin's Creed or Halo. Since I can see my TV from the kitchen, I put those videos up and wash dishes or sit on the couch to fold laundry while watching. Or just watch a little here and a little there. Personally, I like BioShock, Outer Wilds, Detroit Become Human, Black Mesa, Watch Dogs and the cat games. I usually tend to sit down, have something to eat while giving more of attention to those and watch the whole video(s) in 1 sitting. There is a playlist where I have all of your videos I want to watch (games and reaction) which I'm slowly working through. But the games I like more and the X-Files and Doctor Who reactions have higher priority and tend to watch those immediately while going back to slowly watch the rest.
