Added 2023-12-01 21:00:06 +0000 UTCDoomed. What a perfect title to use when it comes to a Buffy romance. Buffy and Riley doomed? Most likely. Will we still enjoy it whilst it lasts? YES! Okay, I have come to like Riley a little more. He's.... fine. It's a me problem, I think. I'm just so used to not having nice things anymore. But Buffy likes him, so I can live with that! And, he's no Poophead Parker.

*Random guy gets his throat slit by a demon* Juliette: Oh, beautiful. Your reactions are truly priceless π I love this episode because of Spike! He makes it ten times better. I agree that Riley was pushing it with Buffy. He could clearly see that she's dealing with trauma, and he wasn't helping any. As a psych TA, one would think he'd have a better understanding of how to approach someone dealing with pain and loss, even if he couldn't understand the entire story. At least they got to this point though π₯°

That is a side of you I didn't expect :-P I love how they're all talking about Percey calling Willow a nerd, and treqting the demon thing as secondary. There are some interesting beats in this episode. First, there's the scientific way Riley and his gang describe the demon, contrasted with the esotheric way Buffy's friends do. Secondly, there's Buffy changing her mind about dating Riley. She was so adamant about not wanting this, but when she sees him be vulnerable she turns around.

2023-12-02 16:31:11 +0000 UTCI enjoyed this episode and your commentary for it quite a bit, it is certainly well above average for an episode of Buffy and you are your usual brilliant self. And we learn several important things: 1) Spike can fight demons 2) Buffy can fall faster than a demon 3) Riley is incredibly strong (he pulls Buffy and a demon out of the Hellmouth with a very thin cable that would have sliced the fingers off a normal person) and 4) the belt loops on Buffy's jeans are very, very tough.

It never fails to make me laugh. It's even funnier knowing that James Marsters is actually American. So he's playing an English character who is trying to put on a fake American accent. I think he nailed it. π

2023-12-01 22:33:21 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you caught it, but Spike can only hurt demons. He still can't hurt humans, so he still can't bite people to feed. One thing I like about this episode is how the characters are confronted by their fears. Buffy feels like it's the end of the world because she can't have a nice romantic relationship, but she is able to stop it with the help of Riley. Both Xander and Willow feel like they have not moved on from high school, but they go back there to be useful and realize that it seems smaller, that they have grown up.
