Doctor Who 2x13 Doomsday | Full Reaction

Well... that happened. Rose and I are both unhappy on the thumbnail, which is rather appropriate 🤣 Series/season 2 is done... over. I never like to write too much here on the blurb about what happened, in case some people haven't seen it.

If I keep up this pace, I can watch almost 4 seasons of Who in a year, which is pretty darn awesome! I have to say, I really enjoy how they are smaller seasons, at least when it comes to reacting. Buffy, Angel and X Files are the usual length and I can pretty much only watch 2 per year. But Who?! We are flying along, like we have our very own TARDIS! (speaking of, I really need a TARDIS for my shelf behind me haha)

The next episode is the Christmas Special 💜

Doctor Who 2x13 Doomsday | Full Reaction

Comments

I think I cried more than you did!

Chris Green

Love this goodbye to Rose. 😭 I know into 4 now, but I can't wait the rest of Tennant and your reaction to it.

Jerry Setty (SpTigerJD1)

Paul, thank you so much for being here!! I look back and think about the 9th Doctor and I never thought I'd be happy with another, but David Tennant fits in so well. I feel that it's easy to just go with the flow of whatever they throw at us, as it all works so beautifully every time 💜

You're Welcome! 🤗

Juliette what a journey you’ve been on, and thank you for helping me relive these two seasons. First the amazing power and intensity of Chris Eccleston’s Doctor. He always brings his A game, and brings out the best in any other actor who shares a one on one scene with him — such power and craftsmanship. Then David Tennant comes and infuses the Doctor with such fun and personality … he’s an ensemble actor and it’s almost like a party the way he makes it gel when a bunch of actors are all on the screen together with him. And Billie Piper just lights up the screen and is so real for us. In just two short seasons she worked her way into Doctor Who fan legend right up there with Elizabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane Smith. We’ll really miss her. I’m looking forward to series 3 with you. It includes what some people consider to be the very best episode of Doctor Who. For me that accolade goes to series 2’s Girl in the Fireplace, but it doesn’t take away from how excellent this series 3 episode is. And just like the last two series, season 3 as a whole is lots of fun and something I’m looking forward to with you. Thanks so much for making this space and sharing your experiences with all of us.

I love this, Lindsay! It's a beautiful and thoughtful perspective. Romance and happiness doesn't equal sex, you are right. You can have one without the other 💜 I really do feel he loved Rose, too. It will be interesting for me to see if he ever gets that close to someone in the future, but maybe not right away. It might hurt too much for now. I did love Rose with him, but hopefully we will adapt and so will he 🥹

Juliette Gaming

Thank you so much 💜

HA!

😭😭😭

Juliette Gaming

I concur!

@Lindsay I think you’re 100% right. Their feelings towards each other were foreshadowed in Dalek and The Doctor Dances, and then covered pretty directly in School Reunion.

Just a comment: It wasn't just the Doctor and Rose who suffered from the separation. David Tennant and Billie Piper were also badly affected. It was sad to see David staring at himself in the Jeep as they shot Rose's final scene, sobbing, alone and unanswered on the beach. And Billie was so devastated that she had to visit her ex-boyfriend...

Some sadistic sonuvabich once set up a display in a computer shop. On one computer desktop, the background was the Doctor on his side of the wall. On a neighboring desktop, Rose on her side. I'm not crying. You're crying.

Martin Holt

Loved the reaction! It isn't wrong to believe the Doctor and Rose loved each other. I know there's a group of fans who believe the Doctor doesn't do romance at all but it's also a completely valid opinion to believe the Doctor loved Rose. RTD wrote this as a romance. I know death of the author and all that but since he meant the viewers to see this as a romance, it makes sense and completely ok to view it as one. As someone who has watched all of classic and Nuwho and completely believes that the Doctor loved Rose, it just bothers me that some fans talk as if having that opinion means you're not understanding something. Even if you believe the Doctor is ace it doesn't mean they can't have romantic feelings. Romance doesn't equal sex and it's a pretty narrow view of sexuality and romance. I've just seen a lot of the comments you get about how the doctor doesn't do romance like this is a fact and it isn't. Either opinion is valid and can be backed up. Can't wait until the next one! Loved your reaction to the woman showing up in the TARDIS. What indeed.

Lindsay

If you watch the scene on the beach and don't cry, you are a Dalek. If you watch the scene with the wedding dress and don't yell out, WHAT THE F#@^%$$^%$^$@%#%$?!!!!. you are a Cyberman.

Martin Holt

In Classic Who Despite the numerous clashes, between The Doctor and The Daleks or The Cybermen, in the 26 years the classic series was on air. This was the only time that Daleks and Cybermen appeared in the same story.

Man! It's always so hard emotionally for me to watch this episode, I was definitely crying with you. Rose and The Doctor so love eachother it's so incredibly sad.😢 I wonder who that mysterious woman is at the end, hmmm? I can't wait for the next episode, great reaction. 😊❤️

Hot Space 🇬🇧

Thank you 🥰🥰 It means so much to me that you are enjoying the episodes! It is so sad to say goodbye to Rose in this one, but I get so much comfort knowing she's with people she loves. She finally gets that family she always wanted 😭

Juliette Gaming

I love that theory. No matter what, they are both about destruction. And they are just awful 😱 I don't know which I find scarier. Maybe the Cybermen!

Juliette Gaming

What a brilliant reaction. Watching you go through the gamut of emotions the same way we all did the first time round, let's just say I'm thoroughly enjoying sharing these with you. The future still holds some amazing stories for our beloved 10th Doctor alongside some excellent companions. Can't wait for next week now :)

The Rising Ape

Something occurred to me while re-watching this episode. The nature's of the Daleks and the Cybermen are encapsulated in their respective battle cries. The Daleks scream EXTERMINATE, while the Cybermen intone DELETE. One exterminates vermin. One deletes defective code in order to preserve the whole. The Daleks view all other life as vermin to be exterminated. The Cybermen view all other life to be incorporated into the whole, except for those defective components which must be deleted. Or maybe I just need more beer.

Two series in and you've lost a Doctor, and now a companion. This show can be brutal sometimes, but in a good way. Rose's ending is definitely bitter sweet. She gets to live out her days with her family, and see if Torchwood are hiring. It does feel like the happiest ending for her given the alternatives. But she doesn't have her beloved with her. I definitely don't think Rose and Mickey would ever try to make another go of it. I genuinely do think there's love between them, but it's more of a platonic love, a true friendship. I have to say, I do love how you mirrored the Doctor's "What, what, what?" at the end. The look of confusion is exactly what we all had watching that for the first time. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to what comes next for our lonely Timelord.

SeeJay

I have watched this episode over 50 times and I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME. It just gets to me. The absolute heartbreak Rose feels on that beach destroys me. Billie Piper truly sells it. I also love that this season and last season, Rose cares so much about getting her parents back together, saving her father, reuniting with them in a parallel world etc... and in the end, she succeeds in getting that wish, but at what cost😭

NNC

That's pretty spoilery. I dont think juliette will want to know about future companion relationships

x_Rhi_x

Fans rebelled at the Doctor having romantic relationships with companions so you don't really see,it again. Except with.....

The Dog Whisperer

The Doctor most certainly loved Rose in a romantic way. But fans rebelled at the idea and we don't see it again.

The Dog Whisperer

Which Sonic do you have?

The Dog Whisperer

I collect Sonics. And No, not the hedgehog.

The Dog Whisperer

The Doctor loves all their companions / assistants. But not in that way. I think he probably loved the first the most. Susan, or their given name, Arkytior; which actually translates as Rose. Which of course is no coincidence. This relationship was different, of course, but I appreciate the mild parallels.

Daryl

Neil, you can't tell me that you're at the hospital and not expand on it 😱 I'll be worried now! I really do think that the Doctor was going to tell her that he loved her... Sigh. This raises so many questions for me. Does he fall in love with his companions, all of them? Or just Rose? As a new viewer, I have no clue. I know he was very fond of Sarah Jane, but did he love her? BAH! Maybe it's on purpose, they don't want to show that the Doctor loves his companions, they don't want to include romance... 😭

Juliette Gaming

The Hedgehog? If so, nice collection choice! I need to add my Sonic to the background hehe

Juliette Gaming

I need one 😱 I would always imagine a mini-Doctor inside!!

Juliette Gaming

The Dog Whisperer

The beach scene absolutely destroyed me! 😭 Rose telling the Doctor she loves him, and him (possibly) about to tell her the same just as he fades away... Why must these shows hurt us so Juliette? 😭 It's gonna take a while to get over that for sure. The only comfort is that at least the universe let Jackie and Pete find each other again, and perhaps their little family can now be together and be happy. Great scene to end the episode, total confusion from both the Doctor, and us, the audience. Thanks for the reaction Juliette. Hope you have a great day (or better than me at least, stuck at the hospital all day).

Neil Hanson

I actually have a mini TARDIS myself, I've had it for years, I absolutely love it. If I spin it on my finger or move it around in my hands it makes the flying noise, if I then place it down it makes the iconic landing noise lol.
