Buffy - The Initiative 4x07 - Full Reaction

Ah, dear old Spike has found himself in quite a predicament... I do like Spike. He offers some comic relief, in an evil way. I must say that I really wouldn't want to see anything bad happen to him. It's not that I like "bad boys". I'm very old. I'm long past that. Besides, my favourite male characters are Giles and Oz... two very much NOT bad boys! But I am a sucker for a laugh, and that's what I get most from Spike. He can put his teeth away for good, as far as I'm concerned, and we will be much better for it!

Have a lovely weekend 🥰

Buffy - The Initiative 4x07 - Full Reaction

Comments

I love this episode! The way Spike and Willow talked in the dorm after he couldn't bite her, and Xander and Harmony's fight in the woods were both hilarious. I'm surprised Harmony didn't start a huge fire though since she was burning that stuff on grass - that would have been more chaos than the episode needed 😂

Melanie

DEFINITELY NOT commenting on a possible future Buffy-Riley relationship, but .... it wouldn't hurt to stock up on a big bottle of burn ointment for the rest of the series (as well as Angel) just in case.

David Schmidt

I am still unsure about Riley! He DOES seem nice enough, but maybe I'm just too wary as I've been burnt too many times with this show 🤣

Quite a big surprise in this episode. Riley and the professor are not what they seem! And apparently they have quite a bit of power, shutting down electricity and locking doors with just a phone call. Riley seems nice enough, but his categorical "yeah" to "boys can take care of themselves and girls need help" seems counter to the show's whole premise. If anyone can change his mind about that, it's Buffy.

Adding to my above comment... another one I have no idea about is Riley. He seems.... nice. Sweet, even. But there's just something about him that makes me hesitant! Maybe I've been burned with Buffy too often? I might be just holding back and not wanting to have hope. If Riley can open up to Buffy about the initiative thing, then maybe I will let my guard down a little 🥹

I am so glad to know that it's okay to like Spike!! I go into these episodes and the whole show blind, with no idea if anyone likes any of the characters or not so it's a very real and honest view that I try and have, without influence from others. I will say the few (there's not many but they were vocal) negative comments about Spike have disturbed me a little but I do feel better now. I think a lot of it was back in the episode where.... Spike came back and murdered the magic shop person. Someone mentioned that Spike is a evil and terrible person and shouldn't be forgiven. Which... okay, yeah, he is pretty evil 🤣 but he makes me laugh so he tends to get a bit of a free pass 🤭

I'm not sure who in your comments said they don't like Spike, but they're just plain wrong. LOL In my opinion, he's one of the best characters to ever exist in any show. He was only supposed to be in season 2, but obviously they brought him back because of how well received he was. The Harmony/Xander fight in this episode is one of my all time favorite moments on the show. It's just too funny. This is a really good episode this season. We've had hints in previous episodes about the military guys, but this is the episode that really sets things up for the rest of the season. We finally find out more information about what the commando's are up to, and we find out that Riley and Professor Walsh are a part of it. I can't wait to see your reactions to the rest of the season.

This still hurts! The shock!!! 😭😭

.... 😭😭😭😭😭

Juliette Gaming

Oh! I rarely look at the credits, especially names. I like to be surprised 😊

Juliette Gaming

I’m surprised you didn’t realize Spike is a full cast member in the credits

Vague disclaimer, Willow is great in this episode. Even in her heartbroken state she bolsters the moods of Riley and Spike, her conversations with them were so good...and you are spot on with your Willow/Riley relationship as they do seem to have a good chemistry with one another. Just don't wear the fuzzy lilac outfit around Spike!

Dyrla

I wouldn't worry too much about Spike, Joss Whedon never does anything to hurt his funny characters (I'm a leaf on the wind)

Joshua M Freeman

Yes, Riley Finn and Prof Maggie Walsh are academics but also part of 'The Initiative' (the title of the episode). I am a bit surprised that there are people in this universe who claim to not like Spike. I mean, I wouldn't want to have met pre-chip Spike in a dark alley, but really, all of you Spike-haters, get a life.

David Schmidt

Another great reaction. Your laugh is a joy to hear. His first name is Riley btw.

Jonathan Hall

This episode is great for so many reasons that I won't talk about, but I will say how damn funny it is. There's the Harmony/Xander fight, Buffy/Riley trying to get the other to leave, Giles telling Xander to shut up, Willow helping Riley talk to Buffy, and the conversation that Spike/Willow have after Spike tries to bite her. It almost feels weird to have such a funny episode after the last one, but it is certainly welcome. At this point in the show, I enjoyed every scene with Spike on screen, so don't feel bad about liking Spike.
