Doctor Who 2x06 The Age of Steel | Full Reaction

And here we see the epic conclusion to the previous episode! It's not just me, is it? These Cybermen are scary! Their big, booming steps... I don't know about you guys, but I've heard people say that AI will be the thing that destroys the human race, and if it's anything like THESE things, it's likely 🤣

A really good episode... sad, in places. And don't worry! I've calmed down about Rose and saw things from her perspective by the end of the episode 😅 She just loves her mum and dad and wants happiness... no matter if it's the past, future, alternate universe or what! She's a sweetheart.

Have a lovely day 🥰 (p.s. I'm not sure if I've complained about my thumb yet, but I've hurt my right thumb from most likely replying to comments on my phone. I've had to not do that as much to just allow my thumb to calm down, so Youtube comments are a little bit slower for me to get to. It's feeling a lot better now so I just need a couple more days rest and will use the computer more for the comments during the day!)

Who doesn't Rose abuse...besides daddy?

The Dog Whisperer

It really was so perfect for him... he's with a version of his Gran, and here in this world, he's NEEDED. Love it so much!

Just like people have favorite doctors, favorite regenerations, they also have favorite exits for companions recurring characters. This one for Micky is a pretty great exit story!

Paul Hess

Absolutely not! It was amazing to see Mickey's story forge ahead and he has become so dear to me 🥰 I really hope we see him again, but I'm not sure if that will happen, given where he is!

Juliette Gaming

I just rewatched Juliette's very first DW reaction, ROSE. In her ending commentary, while speculating about characters in future episodes, she said, approximately, 'We probably won't see Mickey again.' Juliette, when you said, that, would you ever have imagined where Mickey would end up? :-)

Glad you really liked this two parter. This was definitely Mickey’s story. Yes the Doctor and Rose contributed but at the end of the day Mickey finally got to be the hero and it was great to see. The goodbye scene between Mickey and Rose always gets me. It reminds me of those friendships/relationships that just sort of fizzle out. You don’t hate each other, you don’t hold contempt for one another but there just isn’t anything there like there used to be. And then all you can do is say goodbye and part ways. Mickey and Rose’s entire relationship was very realistically done. It started out with both Mickey and Rose kind of not being there for each other, then they start growing apart with Mickey not wanting to let go, leading Rose to come off as sort of nasty as she clearly just doesn’t see him that way anymore like in season 1, and then it all culminates here where they both realize it’s finally over. I’m really happy they left on good terms though. You can tell they want the best for each-other. It’s not your typical heartfelt romance, but I always appreciated the realistic portrayal of a dying relationship. As sad as it is. To put Rose’s attitude in perspective, imagine if an ex boyfriend was following you and your current boyfriend around on adventures lol. But then there’s also the difficulties in Mickey and Rose clearly being friends too. It just made the whole situation bad and Mickey was smart to end it off. It wasn’t good for either of them. Russel T Davies is so good at character writing it honestly astounds me.

Alec Campo

Abused? That’s a bit much. Please point to a moment where Rose was abusive towards Mickey.

Alec Campo

I've watched a great deal of DW over the years, both new and old, and this is my favourite era of Who. The writing is truly superb and to me feels very Tao. In the happy moments, a little sadness (victory over Lumic but Mickey leaving) and in the sad moments, a little happiness (Mickey leaving but getting to spend more time with his Nan, who had died already in "our" universe). This theme continues throughout all of Russell T Davis' run as writer. Great reaction as always can't wait for the next one.

The Rising Ape

I want a Mickey and Jake spin off show as they travel the parallel world defeating the cybermen!!!

SeeJay

Well, unlike me Juliette, you are very old! Things falling apart is to be expected 😜

Neil Hanson

Cut for time was my diplomatic reasoning, given how little time was needed. But the extended scene exists. https://youtu.be/i3MzNvT5q6E?si=UkTOS34GZ120asQl

Daryl

It was painful to see Mickey go but it's a relief to know that he won't be abused by Rose anymore.

The Dog Whisperer

Cyber-Thanos.

Martin Holt

Thanos.

The Dog Whisperer

Says Who?

The Dog Whisperer

There’s an age old debate as to which DW villain is the more terrifying - Daleks or Cybermen. Cybermen have changed in appearance over the decades, but I feel the concept that they are in fact us, with all emotion removed, and the insistence all other humans should be converted to them, to be utterly terrifying. The scene with the injured Cyberman waking to feel the cold and worrying about its/her pending wedding is heartbreaking. And then Mrs Moore (who I had really come to like) gets killed. It shows DW is prepared not to pull punches.

Lloyd B

What makes the Cybermen truly scary, perhaps even more than the Daleks, is that they genuinely believe that everyone should be like them. Their motives are pure. Immortality, power, freedom from the weakness of emotion - who WOULDN'T want that? Right?

Martin Holt

Poor Neil and his delicate handsies 😅 Honestly, it could be from my controller as well! A mixture of things maybe! It's just my luck that I had to have an injury from a seemingly innocent thing! Everything just falls apart at my age 🤣

Juliette Gaming

Yeah, that wasn't made clear in the episode. I didn't think it was odd and over the top though... He'd lost his best friend, I assumed 💜

Juliette Gaming

Jake's reaction to Mickey might seem a bit odd and a little over the top. Depending on your take on loss. But it's worth knowing that Ricky and Jake were a couple. Which, unfortunately, the clarification for that was cut from the episode for time.

Daryl

Can't say I've ever hurt my thumb by typing on my phone, but you obviously write many, MANY, more comments than the average person does so I'm not too surprised. I've definitely hurt my thumb by using a controller for too long though (stupid xbox dpad is way too angular for my delicate skin 😂).
