Here we GO! The start of the season finale is here and it's SO intense and incredible. Man, I love this show! I never know what direction things will go in and I am left constantly surprised.

Buffy didn't necessarily kill the zookeeper, the hyenas did. She was just throwing him and that's where he went.

The parallels are palpable. As for the contrasts - Note how the mayor, when he visits the library, talks to Giles, not Buffy. A similar thing happened in Choices but I didn't want to point it out yet then. The mayor addressed Angel, not Buffy. This is because the mayor is the embodiment of the male patriarchy. The mayor thinks she, and all women, needs to be controlled. Giles, in contrast, defers to Buffy whenever possible. He guides her; he does not control her. I also love the writing and dialogues in this episode. So many lines have layers or meaning, or are just funny - without being too silly.

2023-09-16 08:30:46 +0000 UTCAnother way to look at it is that Faith's first killing was an accident. Buffy's was premeditated. Of course Faith killing the professor was both premeditated and without reason (or at least she didn't care about the reason).

2023-09-16 01:18:59 +0000 UTCI'll never get tired of seeing the Mayor threaten Buffy and then immediately get stabbed through the heart by Giles. Ripper didn't hesitate for a second. Season 4 has some GREAT Giles moments, so buckle up. Sorry your day was crappy.
