Buffy - Enemies S3 E17 - Full Reaction

This was meant to be out yesterday, but as I'm not relying on scheduling anymore due to the glitches, sometimes these episodes might not always be on time. I'm sorry! It's difficult to remember sometimes, which is why I loved to schedule. Set and forget! Now I have to rely on my memory πŸ˜–

So, it just gets WORSE. This was about the worst thing that could happen (besides killing anyone) and I really was NOT prepared to go through this pain all over again 🀣 Ah, Faith... Definitely not making a lot of friends here πŸ‘Ώ

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Buffy - Enemies S3 E17 - Full Reaction

No worries :-)

Hey zero, that came off more strident than I intended, sorry

Flora Smith

Come to think of it, what I referred to in my previous comment most definitely explains why she's trusting, and working for the mayor. Small epiphany here myself, as a long ago viewer, just based on these episodes: She's been lied to, manipulated, and used throughout a good chunk of her life. Yet the mayor ALWAYS tells her the truth, as well as confides his own secrets to her. He gives her all of the material things she needs, with a very clear view of what he expects in return. And it's never sexual, or truly exploitative. He does tell her there will be consequences if she doesn't do the jobs he gives her, however. And he does seem to care for her, as well as her general well-being (including both her mental and physical health). She probably hasn't had a lot of that in her life, at least since her mom.

While I don't think it excuses any of her behavior, I do think it's important to note that Faith is obviously a very damaged person, and thus may be acting in ways that are irrational, and seeking support where she shouldn't. It's easy to miss on the first watch, because what Faith says is often vague, and she says these things both quickly and casually: she's literally intimated that she's been a victim of both physical and sexual abuse, that she's been sexually exploited by adult men several times in the past, that she's lost her mother at a young age, and that she essentially grew up on the streets. Like I said, it doesn't excuse what she's doing in any way, whatsoever. But it does explain some of her motivations, and at the very least, we can have empathy for someone who is so "lost", especially though little fault of their own, up until now.

Will Sofer

That's not what I said, Flora. "Like I said they're not doing wrong, but it also doesn't help." Just because their behaviour is understandable, perhaps even correct, does not mean it can't make Faith's mental state worse.

Heaven’s forfend the gang might be squeamish around Faith after she tried to kill Xander (and I’m not mentioning the sexual assault only because they don’t know about it because he was too traumatized to tell anyone)

Flora Smith

I agree with you that Faith feels genuinely bad about the assistant, Alan. The Mayor is also treating Faith in the way that she's most likely been craving for, for a long time. Somewhere to call home. I just can't excuse Faith for everything that she's done though... I'm invested and interested in Faith's story, but unfortunately, my emotions and heart aren't on her side. It's such a shame that the story had to go like this as I thought (probably stupidly) that things would be great with a second slayer around πŸ˜₯

Even if Faith really is working for the mayor, I'm still convinced her remorse over killing the demon - and the assistant - is real. She's acting tough, but deep inside she's still good. Even after this episode I still believe that. Unfortunately the way the gang is treating Faith is not helping. I'm not saying they're doing anything wrong, but Faith feels shut out - and they're not really doing anything to include her. Like I said they're not doing wrong, but it also doesn't help. And more importantly: the mayor _does_ make her feel included. They are developing what appears to be a father/daughter relationship: him offering her milk, the way he acted when she brought Angel to see him, and him comforting her at the end. Giles knows all the coolest guys doesn't he :-D

Careful what you wish for. The Buffy writers frequent patreon and possess time machines. :P

I could NOT HANDLE more Angelus 🀣 My goodness... I would have been desperately unhappy. I ADORE that it was just an act! I am so relieved 🀣🀣

I haven't cried enough this season for my weird liking 🀣

Juliette Gaming

It's so satisfying seeing your face when you realised that Angel wasn't really bad. lol.

Michael Short

Tempting the crying gods exactly one season after that episode ... πŸ€”

Awww thank you, lovely! I was even sat here on my computer at 7am Saturday but started editing instead πŸ₯Ή I might try the next one scheduled, and see if Patreon decides to work next time πŸ’œ

Juliette Gaming

Hey! I was worried yesterday when I didn't see you post. Thankfully it was just your terrible memory and not something else. xx
