Doctor Who 1x07 The Long Game | Full Reaction

Probably not my favourite episode so far, but there were some moments in this that I REALLY liked. There's just something to be said about the Doctor's snarky sense of humour and sarcastic, flippant attitude. I like how he seems so "possessive" of Rose, and I'm curious if others see it as well? I am not sure yet if there is a reason for this, or if it's just down to his non-human nature. He seems to prefer it when it's just he and Rose and no one else, even telling one of the other women in this episode to basically just get lost πŸ˜…

I like it. It might just be me, and maybe I'm reading more into it than what is actually there, but I personally like it!

I think I recognise one of the actors in this episode, the main dude on floor 500, but I also don't think I've seen him in anything before. He just looks familiar! Creepy monster, funny ending, a bit of banter, happy days!

Since you're into romance, I can see why you like the Mulder and Scully relationship, as well as Buffy and Angel.

Stay tuned... ;-)

In the classical period, the Doctor had up to 3 companions. But every Doctor has a slightly different personality. I think it is like the Doctor said... he only takes the best.

James Hawkins

I remember watching it from the 60's until the present Doctor

wizkid64

Our Doctor does have SUCH a scary kind of vibe to him! I would never want to make him mad πŸ˜…

Juliette Gaming

Oh Adam Adam you had to go mate Can’t do shit like that with the doctor I always liked the angry walk of the doctor and the camera just focusing on him like he is coming towards you and he will throw you to a black hole or something

Doctorwhoinfinity (Dor Cohen)

Yeah, Adam turned out a lot like his boss.

Martin Holt

My favorite of the Cornetto trilogy was HOT FUZZ. WORLD'S END was second, and SHAUN the leats fave - which means it was only well above average rather than f#@king brilliant.

Martin Holt

Yeah, I had a bit of a 'domestic' with my own DVD player. All I had to do was just quit and reload after each episode. easy peasy!

Martin Holt

I'm also using iPlayer in the UK but from what I've heard, people outside the UK can use a VPN to create an account (which is free of course) and watch from wherever they happen to be.

Neil Hanson

I'm sorry 😭 Maybe it was just a weird one-off episode?

Juliette Gaming

That's weird. I didn't know different services streamed or ran at different rates. I'd had no difficulty with synching up until this episode.

TGrimace

Ahh I remember Mickey. I just use that song at the end of the film "Bring It On" which starred Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Duskhu, to remind me πŸ˜„

Colin 3of5

Just to confirm what Juliette has said about synching up with the BBC iPlayer, which I'm using to synch up to Juliette's reaction. I have checked through iPlayers FAQ and iPlayer is only available in the UK. Which is not a problem for me as I am a UK resident. The problem with iPlayer and non-UK viewers is a licencing issue not a hardware one.

Colin 3of5

Yes, and if you recall Mickey (remember him? Wimpy bloke, ostensibly Rose’s boyfriend?), in episode one the Doctor pointedly said he was NOT invited to come along in the TARDIS, but after the events in episodes 4 and 5, when Mickey proved himself somewhat, he did invite him. Mickey wasn’t ready, though, and still the Doctor covered for him to Rose.

Lloyd B

Ahhh, thank you Lloyd! I did just wonder if he was simply wanting Rose all to himself πŸ˜… I kinda like that thought, it's cute. But maybe he is just wanting to get the job done and get it done right and he knows he can with Rose!

Juliette Gaming

Oh no πŸ˜” I'm sorry to hear that! For the previous episodes, I was watching on DVD but I was having a lot of problems with the DVD player. I have switched to a streaming service here in Australia called Stan. I don't have HBO here, but my episodes are the same as the DVD and also on BBC iPlayer as I have compared my episodes with the DVD ones and they match up. I wish every episode could just be in the same format πŸ˜”

Juliette Gaming

Juliette is watching in the shows original broadcast format. HBO won't be a match unfortunately.

Daryl

I'm having real problems syncing with hbo. The video on here seems to be running faster....

I don’t think the Doctor is possessive of Rose. As he said, he only takes the best. He’s very particular about who he will let into his confidence, and is mostly a very sharp judge of character. Cathica was being fearful and not willing to question what was going on, so he dismissed her. Once she came through and saved the day, though, he was much more accepting. Adam proved to be selfish and deceitful, and selfishness is a trait the Doctor won’t abide. The Editor was played by Simon Pegg. I highly recommend his β€œThree Flavours Cornetto trilogy” of comedy films which he did with Nic Frost - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End. I love the expression on Adam’s mum’s face at the end when she clicks her fingersπŸ˜€. Serves him right to be dumped back home!

Lloyd B

This is my first time seeing Simon in anything, but he has one of those faces that I know I've seen before, somewhere πŸ˜… Adam... I mean, he had potential... but I'm not a fan. He wasn't intending any malice by what he did, but he was just looking out for number 1 and being extremely careless, dumb and selfish. Silly boy!

Juliette Gaming

Ahhh Simon Pegg!! I've heard of him and know his face but this is my first time seeing him!

Juliette Gaming

This isn't one of my favs either. But I look forward to you enjoying the best parts. I'm always glad to see the back of Adam, every single time. But all one needs to do is Google the actor to understand why. The guy you are referring to is Simon Pegg. Successful in the UK since the late 90's, then in recent decades that has broadened internationally from the success of a few British films and then being part of two big Hollywood franchises. Star Trek and Mission Impossible.

Daryl

The main villain is played by Simon Pegg, of SHAUN OF THE DEAD fame. Fun fact: it took Simon many, many takes to pronounce the Jagrafess's name. I'm not certain he ever got it right completely.
