Buffy - Beauty and the Beasts S3 E4 - Full Reaction

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I am pleased to report that mine went quite well and I ended up getting my ice cream 😸 It is my favourite flavour of theirs so far, so I think I'd better get another one next weekend before they stop making them 😭

This episode was a good one... cleverly disguised as a "monster of the week" but with some major plot points included. Some absolutely beautiful moments with Buffy and Angel, which only makes my heart ache more for them. I can't help it, guys. I'm a Bangel gal (Am I saying that right?!). I do admit though, as much as I love Buffy and Angel together, I am very, VERY, open to Buffy being with someone else, IF it makes her happy. I don't care who she is with, as long as she is happy and they treat each other well. I think that's about all one can ask for. If she finds happiness with someone other than Angel, great! If she remains single, great! As long as she is happy, that's all I care about πŸ₯°

Great episode, and more Oz action, so I'm a happy Buffy-fan today 😸😸

Buffy - Beauty and the Beasts S3 E4 - Full Reaction

Giles seems to have very little patience for Xander! I understand though... Xander still has a way to go to in terms of maturity, and maybe Giles can see a lot of his teenage behaviour in Xander so he's a little hard on him πŸ˜…

That's it. You made me blush.

We already had the Bride of Frankenstein in Some Assembly Required, and now we have Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I hate how Xander doesn't even _try_ to stay awake. I feel like it would've been better if he had indeed just failed to stay awake, rather than go to sleep right away. Also, did you notice how Giles goes off on Xander for falling asleep while watching Oz, but when Buffy does the exact same thing he's so sweet to her... In episodes like this I really appreciate the show's willingness to tackle hard subjects. Debbie's reaction feels all too real: protecting and making excuses for her abuser. As does him reinforcing her self-blame by saying things like "You shouldn't make me mad."

Most episodes are Monsters of the Week or cleverly disguised as Monsters of the Week! And many episodes that are just Monsters of the Week have major repercussions down the line such that you only then realize they were cleverly disguised as Monsters of the Week I think that made sense...

It's in this episode. It's when Buffy taps Faith on the shoulder, while she's rocking out to music in the library (while she's guarding Oz). Sarah Michelle Gellar's reaction to being hit is real. But that's a true actor, when you actually use it for the scene, power through the pain, and don't say anything until afterward. Don't worry. There are several moments in the Buffyverse where actors accidentally beat the crap out of each other. You'll see others.

NEVER, EVER like a teacher at Sunnydale. I am learning 🀣 He was SO lovely!!!

Woah, that's an interesting fact! I'd love to know what scene that was. Sometimes when I'm editing, I slow the fights frame by frame to see if there was actually a connection! They get SO close!

Yeah, it can sometimes be hard to get through to some people and tough love might be the only way that works πŸ˜” So sad about Debbie.... πŸ˜”

This is my first time seeing the counsellor in any role, but I liked him! Of course, I now remember NEVER to like a character πŸ˜” Thank you, Sweet! I love how you live up to your name πŸ’œ

Mr. Platt. He's wonderful, he's amazing, he's perfect. He's dead. Just like all the good educators at Sunnydale High. It's told that when Faith turned and swung at Buffy, Eliza actually hit Sarah. Probably because the key ring she was holding in her hand messed up their marks. Sarah continued with the scene and they used it. Sarah looks like she's in some real pain. I love Sarah voice. If she did audio books I'd be in.

I'm pretty sure this is the episode where Eliza Dushku (Faith) actually hit Sarah in the scene at the libarary where Buffy taps Faith on the shoulder while she's listening to music and she spins around and punches Buffy in the face. Eliza's quote: "I remember hitting Sarah Michelle Gellar with a right hook during my first week on the job. It was awful. They usually pair actors with stunt doubles to avoid things like that." Although, after watching it again, Faith hit Buffy with her left hand, not her right, so maybe she misspoke or else this isn't the right scene. That punch looked pretty real though and I swear I remember reading that it was this scene but Google is no help.

This episode often gets a lot of criticism for the way Buffy talks to Debbie in the bathroom. The general feeling is because Debbie is a victim of abuse Buffy is being much to harsh with her. I think of it as the ticking time bomb where Buffy knows other people could die if she does not get the information right now so she doesn't have time to be gentle. Pete has to be stopped and Debbie is going to give up the info right now. Unfortunately there was no time to be gentle with Debbie later or I think they all would have made an effort to help her.

Bangel is correct.

GaveUp

Bangel is indeed the correct terminology. Glad you got your ice cream! I like this one too. Buffy getting some much needed guidance from an actor most people know from something else (I know him as Hooch from Scrubs), and the Buffy/Angel stuff. There's a lot to like about this one. Excited to watch it with you.
