Buffy - Becoming Part 1 S2 E21 - Full Reaction
Added 2023-06-26 22:00:02 +0000 UTCI truly cannot believe we are almost at the end of season 2... Where did the time go? I think I just love it so much that it seems to fly through the episodes... And this is when I start to rock back and forth in the corner, not wanting it to end despite not even being halfway through!
This episode was SO GOOD. It's a two-parter, and what an epic start to a season finale. It was AMAZING seeing Angel's story. Incredible. His beginning. His suffering. I haven't liked Angelus but I still like Angel. In many ways, this episode was hard to watch but it's right up there with one of my favourites. Really, really good π₯Ή

When Darla cut her chest and had Angel drink she was making him into a vampire. Buffy s1e1. "In order to make someone a vampire they have to suck your blood then you have top suck their blood. It's a whole big sucking thing." Angel can't be held responsible for something he had no control over. He couldn't stop Angelus from turning into Angelus or anything he did after. Xander once again reacts with anger instead of making a reasoned argument. He even got Giles to react to him when he could be on his side.

Not only for what he has been doing but even if you return his soul it's like letting a ticking bomb walk around. You know it's always possible he'll lose it again and then wouldn't you bare at least some of the responsibility for anyone else he kills? Also the soul itself is a curse that brings tremendous suffering to Angel. Is it really ethical to force that suffering on him again instead of letting him find peace in death? The flashbacks were really cool, I loved seeing Darla again. I don't think Angel continued watching Buffy after he saw her in LA. He was such a mess I think he kinda went into training and then caught up with her in Sunnydale when he could actually be a help to her so that would be a little less creepy. A little sidenote Bianca Lawson ( Kendra) was originally cast as Cordilia but had to back out because of other obligations and the Network pressured Joss Whedon to recast Cordilia as white.
