Buffy - The Pack S1 E6 - Full Reaction

Soooo... this one was great. I don't want to write too many spoilers in this little blurb though, but I am shocked and a little sad about what happened to one of the characters.

Xander's character was SO good in this episode. We saw such a different side to him but please, we love the nerdy and awkward Xander the best! Never leave us 😭

Another really good episode. I hope you guys enjoy 💜

(p.s. no timer going along with this one as I edited it before I came up with the idea but it will be in the next one!)

Of course, the fact that Xander does remember what happened while possessed means the other kids also remember eating the school principal. We’re talking some really serious PTSD here!!😱

Willow getting insulted by Xander was the worst 👿 I am so keen to see her character evolve and grow over the years but I do hope she retains her sweet side. She reminds me of myself in a way when I was in high school! I wasn't a Buffy or Cordelia 😂

YES! Totally agree with you about the zoo keeper. I love it when things come randomly and unexpectedly, and I'm beginning to see that Buffy has that in spades. It's so fun to be able to make a guess as to what's happened and then be WRONG 🤣

Honestly, still so shocked about Principal Flutie! I understand that he was the most prominent staff member at that time (as everyone else has pretty much DIED or was a monster HA!) but killing him off was pretty sad! I wonder if we get a new principal soon 🤭 Definitely makes sense what you said about triggering the hyena transfer! The zookeeper had it all set and ready, he just lacked that one crucial element. I love it when a character comes on board that you don't suspect as being the bad dude, and this one really surprised me!

I like that zoo keeper. Too often it's clear from the start when a side character is evil, but this guy seems trustworthy at first. Well done by the actor as well as the wrriters and director. The principal being eaten by students is a lot darker than most people expected this show to go.

I saw some automatic revolving doors make someone look like a complete fool the other day! (someone, definitely not me! 🤣)

I remember not liking this episode much when I first watched it all those years ago. Especially because I hated seeing how Xander treated Willow badly and caused her to feel so hurt. Over the years though I must admit that it's kinda grown on me. Not one of my favourites, but I can appreciate what they were going for. I must say that I didn't find the bullies to be intimidating at all, I was mostly just wondering why no one had stood up to them. I guess they did devour Principle Flutie though (I don't even want to imagine what that looked like!), so I have to give them some points on the 'mean kids' scoreboard. I thought that Nicholas Brendan's performance was great in this one, he really made me dislike Xander for a while there! I was glad to see him back to his normal goofy self by the end though (now with the lovely memory of having eaten a live pig!).

There used to be a time when I was kinda luke warm on this episode but it's very much grown on me over the years to the point where I really enjoy it, even if it is very MotW. It's just so very "season 1" Buffy and , to me at least, very endearing for that reason. It does what season 1 is kinda known for and takes a very tropey teenager problem or set of problems, creates a supernatural villain, draws some some fairly obvious parallels, and then beats you over the head with them 😆 in this case a lot of stuff with teenage behaviour, the changing behaviour that happens as we grow up, running with different groups of friends, changing one's behaviour to fit in, etc It all seems very cliche, and I guess its, but it's also the reason why it resonated with so many of the viewers that it was targeted to, and why it ages so well is because we can watch it in a very nostalgic way now. A lot of the charm of these episodes for me is that so much of them very much were my highschool experience lol That *is* what asshole teenage boys act like lol I'll never stop loving you, season 1 😆♥️ It's never really made explicitly clear but I think what we're supposed to infer is that the "predatory act", combined with the circle, was what was needed to trigger the spell. In the first case that was the pre-hyenia kids threating to dump Lance into the hyenia cage. That's the missing element that the zookeeper needed to complete the transfer but instead the bullys triggered it. The zookeeper threatening Willow was what he used to trigger it the second time, sending the spirits into him. I suspect the dodgeball was supposed to be more hyena behaviour, turning on Lance again rather than take on Buffy because they could tell she was stronger. And the hyenia kids whispering Willow's name as in the story the zookeeper told them at the start. You're right, Nicholas Brenden absolutely did a great job pulling off Mean Xander, backed up by some pretty bangin' independent rock music I might add (good grief could I be any older and whiter😆) Good thoughts only for Principal Flutie, RIP to a real one🤘

I think you're not alone with that 🤭 Sometimes doors and entrances can be our worst enemy!

Juliette Gaming

I thought maybe your copy had been titled incorrectly lol No worries, I'm fairly certain I pulled on a door that clearly said "Push" the other day ha ha, so it's not like we don't all have those moments from time to time. No harm, no foul

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Oh thank you!! I have no idea where I got Prey from 🤣 It's not even a title of an X Files episode! I have NO idea what went through my mind, but it learns me a good lesson of not going by memory!

Juliette Gaming

I don't know if this matters to you, my friend, but you've got the post titled as "Prey" rather than "The Pack." Not really a big deal, of course, but it's the sort of thing that would bug me if I were in your shoes lol. Plus it might affect future Patrons searching for specific episodes. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful reaction as always, going to check it out right away here. Cheers👍
