Pre-Filter, Hey Man Nice Shot wasn’t even a twinkle in Robert Patrick’s little brothers eye

Jon Smith

I'm glad I didn't watch this movie in the 80s. The guy who was the Dildo Creep played a sweet mailman on Alice and he did voices for cartoons (specifically Top Cat). Would've ruined my childhood.

Byron

Ok just saw Stanger on Brooklyn 99. My holidays wishes have come true.

Brash Tracks

I'm a mostly but not completely straight man and I proudly got Shirley Temples as a kid

Kieran Steeves

Apparently the movie with Helen Hunt jumping out of a window after taking angel dust was NOT "Angel Dusted", but a different made for TV movie about teens doing angel dust called "Desperate Lives". I know this because of a review on IMDB for Angel Dusted that explained the confusion, presumably because they had gone through the same very rational thought process.

Andrew Bond

As a kid I once tried to convince my mom to buy me a book on how to draw "Bodacious Bad Babes." Basically a book of how to draw naked nippleless women and paint their bodies a different color as their costume.

Re: vices and whether they should be regulated, I used to be a strong proponent of "legalize it and tax it" but easy access to legal sports gambling has ruined both sports and the finances of countless families. I think sometimes a little friction between man and his id is good.

Wouldn’t want to miss a single frame

Jenn

I feel like if COPS the tv show didn’t become a thing then there would have been more police vignette movies like this. Also, water is wet and the sky is often blue.

AFistfulofGwildors

Dust does make super humans. My old barber got wetted up and fist fought multiple cops ass naked… twice.

RutgerHauerPowerHour

Thank God Samurai Cop was fully unedited when I watched it on Hoopla a year ago.

David Bauer

This is kind of a shot in the dark but is this maybe the COPS clip Gabrus was talking about? https://youtu.be/5dlvWmb-E9c?si=TiFekym8jiqMu9m5 it was part of “Naked COPS!” (in case you were wondering if COPS was as sickeningly exploitative as you remember) and was rerun multiple times (I think it was even part of the opening credits at one point). I saw it when I was 8 or 9 and it scared the living hell out of me, so it stuck in my brain as my reference point for PCP for decades.

Justin Paul Strong

The cool one!

Kris macfalda

Which one?

Antti

It’s the legendary ABZ episode that I always think about

Wadi

I was 10 and I distinctly remember my mom asking me if I knew what a blowjob was when the word came up in the movie. I said it was the barber drying your hair with a blow dryer.

WigeyInTheStreetsMitchyInTheSheets

did they ever find his son? my name is Adam and I'm the same age

bloodflart

man i hated that movie

bloodflart

“That's PCP! Phencyclidine. Angel dust! You ever seen what this stuff does to kids?”

Just checked and the hoopla cut is about 5 mins shorter than the runtime listed on the internet at large. Interesting!! My endorsement of Hoopla still stands but buyer (or borrower) beware I guess!

Jenn

The Hoopla version was definitely edited. I thought I must have totally missed the cop saying he is Italian and makes great pasta but I just went and checked and that isn't in the Hoopla version. You don't get to see "Mike" either. The war on libraries has gone way too far.

Mitch Kapa

Watching her tap dance in silence and walk out of a shadowy doorway is a seminal early-Internet-video moment.

David McElroy

So horrible to hear that anthropology professors with great feet are making only fans content. Does anyone happen to know the link for that so that I can warn others to avoid it?

alex d

I didn’t notice (this was a while-cleaning-and-meal-prepping watch for me) but that is very possible hahaha

Jenn

I watched all the Rambo and RoboCop movies with my stepdad when I was like 6 or 7, so same. I didn’t see Pulp Fiction until I was like 12 or 13 though. (And even then the gimp stuff went right over my head lol)

Jenn

I watched this on Hoopla, but I swear it must have been some edited for TV version because I don't remember any of the bad language they refer to in this episode. Unless I'm completely desensitized to that kind of tawk.

David Bauer

Any time Gabrus mentions Firefox, it’s a nice little seratonin shot for me

Wadi

The receptionist is Goddess Bunny: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goddess_Bunny Edit: the Helen Hunt thing is as insane as it sounds, I've seen it.

I always order extra cheese 🐽

Never done pcp myself but it’s a dissociative anesthetic similar to ketamine. There were a couple stories of people surviving crazy trauma because of the anesthetic element of the drug and that snowballed into widespread Copaganda convincing the world that pcp makes you a superhuman unstoppable psychopath. Depressing to think how many people were killed and abused from that bullshit myth. If you want to really bum yourself out listen to season 2 ep 1 of Jon Ronson’s podcast “Things Fall Apart”. It delves into the now debunked concept of “excited delirium” wherein it was listed as the cause of death for thousands of people taken into custody by police. What really happened is that cops would choke people out (ala George Floyd) and when the person would die they would chalk it up to “excited delirium”.

Kailey Mo

In a true “my brain is broken” by this podcast moment, when Stanger talks about the old late night escort commercials and all the attributes you could choose from, in unison with Gabrus I also said out loud: “sleazy”.

Jim

Every time they say “Walsh” I imagined Matt Walsh.

Kris macfalda

Highly recommend using Hoopla and Kanopy! They’re free, no ads, you just need a library card. This was on Hoopla for me.

Jenn

I thought they were talking about the 'America's Most Wanted' guy, Walsh

Chabnormal

I was 9, but, yeah.

FiddlersGreenDay

A movie this bad should not be this hard to watch.

Boogie

I first heard “bodacious set of tatas” in grade school in An Officer and a Gentleman when it aired on HBO. I sadly still call boobies that and I’m 49. Also first heard “PCP and ANGEL DUST” from Frank Oz in Trading Places.

Paul Perez

got to see True Lies when I was 8, probably the reason I'm here right now.

bloodflart

The Changeling remains the scariest movie I've ever seen. Of course, being 7 at the time when I first saw it may have contributed to the experience...

munrets

My mom took me and my best friend to see Pulp Fiction in the theater in 6th grade.

Columbofan69

Here is the clip from the Angel Dust movie, Stanger mentioned. Starring Helen Hunt: https://youtu.be/pl7-fxVnDZw?si=VmJSdel9jg1RTS6u

The Buffmaster

Shirley Temples/Roy Roger’s are fine, but the Italian Soda I had at a wedding as a 8yo lived with me for decades.

Jon Hamre

The boyz dig into another "classic". Boy they don't make em like this anymore.
