In my mind it's not really a Ranger if it's not a 4 banger manual. Don't give up the search there's got to be one or two left that aren't starting to return to the earth. At least that's what we tell ourselves.

I'd say about 1993, my family were visiting some friends in North Carolina and my brother and I rented this from the store just based on the VHS cover. We were instantly smitten. I rented it again when we got home and recorded the theme on to cassette. I would bump that driving my Colt Vista around in high school. Kicked off a whole retro fascination. Foundational. When I went off to college, I had a radio show focusing on 70's funk and soul. It was called "The Hip Pocket" in honor of Pinkie's pool hall. I've probably seen this movie every other year or so since then. Watching it over and over, it's far from perfect (it's pretty basic, repetitive and silly) but it will always be one of my favorites. There's an occasional tricked out 90s euro car or survivor Thunderbird or an early 00s S10 lowrider that draws a little crowd. But, everybody makes a stop at the 80s fox bodys or the mint 85 Toyota pickup. Sub 1970s is where it's at but it is cool to see cars you talked about in high-school cruise the Ave again.

I also agree that Pinky is easily the most entertaining character. He’s got charisma. His beard and hair are different colors but it looks natural. I hope he’s doing ok in the trash truck.
