It’s fell swoop not foul swoop

Charlie

Great episode, love this movie & Kurt. I don’t recall how they got into it but the tangent into Tesla/Elon propaganda-delusion is off the charts 📈🤪

FloridaManMatt

The What Went Wrong episode on this is also a great listen!

mumbles march

I've always loved that Carpenter followed this movie up with Prince of Darkness and gave Dennis Dun & Victor Wong parts that were almost the exact opposites of their parts in Big Trouble

Bring me the Head of Warren Oates

When James Cameron pitched the sequel to Alien he supposedly went into the room, wrote "ALIEN" on like a white board and then added an S making it "ALIENS" then the final flourish was him turning the S into a $ so it read "ALIEN$"

haley

What is the story about the dollar sign that made Stanger chuckle?

Alec Ogg

I showed this to some 30-something weeb friends and they "didn't get it." Never mind that these mental diaper-wearers still watch the anime they liked when they were 10

As someone who read the basic story once and thought That's Odd... Thank you. Of course that's his backstory

Rog was talking about the sad cost-cutting ads in the episode of In Search Of that @Sean Hutchinson linked earlier, but it's crazy to me to get an organic "Mikey Likes It" Life cereal ad at the 23:09 mark, then followed by an Almond Joy/Mounds "sometimes you feel like a nut" commercial. True nostalgia.

Salmon

This is the Action Boys’ most political episode to date Releasing Big Trouble in Little China on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre shows a surprisingly historical and global outlook. They probably feel passionately about human rights in China because half of the movies in Ninjavember could never be made in today’s shackled Hong Kong. Bravo Action Boys! They’d forgo a billion potential subs who now have to risk prison to listen, before they would compromise. Lebron could learn a lot from Stanger about international democratic movements and about sport

Another great episode, Boyz. Thank you. Also, James Hong wrote, directed and starred in a totally insane cult horror film called The Vineyard (1986) that would definitely be worth scouting for a future Octooky. It deserves far more recognition in the realm of true WTF cinema. (I humbly recommend this as a four year Shadow Wolf who has never once commented on anything, if that means anything.)

San Francisco show?

The Eric Roberts Experience

There was absolutely no treasure, he's just a boring dick and his estate finally wrapped up the facade to avoid fraud charges after so much harm.

Ruby

I used to work for the only bookstore that sold Forrest Fenn's 'treasure map' and have countless stories about what a scumbag he is. Over a dozen people died looking for his treasure, so many more came in telling us they had sold all their possessions to come look for the treasure. Fenn's an infamous collector of indigenous artifacts and is strongly against repatriating said artifacts. He used to come in to collect his check at the bookstore every month and would get a coffee (on the house of course). He would make a show of digging through his pockets before throwing a dime on the counter and telling you to keep the change. Fuck that asshole

Ruby

Speaking of Kurt Russell, Breakdown is 100% an ActionBoyz movie. Consider it!

Stephen Navarrete

I really hope the videos Rodg' was referring to belong to "Xiaomanyc." He is a language savant that posts videos about non-American cultures reacting to him. I especially love his episodes exploring Asian cultures and markets.

Christopher Davis

Lot of good water talk in this episode. Kurt did some great underwater acting, I wonder if he’ll end up in an avatar sequel.

Swimfan69

I just ordered a dog harness from bend Oregon

I had a scrotal infection once and it did cause me to blow loads like the elevator in the Shining. Not in volume… just in color.

I danced with James Hong in 2003. I went to a Hollywood club called White Lotus and after 6 Sierra Nevada Pale Ales, I hit the dance floor and next thing I know I’m dancing next to Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans. As I was taking that surreal moment in, I hear them yell and I look over and see James slowing joining the dance floor. He clapped his hands, spun around and started dancing around me and a few others. He then incorporates some karate like moves in his dancing that make the Wayans Brothers die laughing. Then in 2008 I was a videographer at the Kung Fu Panda premiere and briefly told him that story. He just smiled and went “Ahhhhhhh”.

Wish we could drop images here- this has been doing the rounds, an incredible news ad taken out by stuntman Al Leung’s in-laws-to-be! https://x.com/thinkwert/status/1774539351629689172?s=46

Megabus/Boltbus just doesn't have the same charm, so nowadays I mostly do Amtrak. It's way more expensive, unless you book like 6 months in advance and find a discounted rate. Kind of lacks the spontaneity of the Fung Wah days, when I could just toss a change of undies in my backpack on a Friday and ride down to NY for the weekend.

Emily P

I used to ride Fung Wah all the time to visit home in Massachusetts! Had the same experience. Apparently they were shut down for safety violations sometime after I started working full time and made the switch to megabus. 🙃

Jenn

Tell me that’s a podcast reference as well.

Inuit snow goggles would be a way less stressful way to describe those shades

Alan Eagney

I saw! I knew their singer in another life.

FiddlersGreenDay

IDK what a movie called Ice Pirates could be about. Too confusing!

David McElroy

Related, Man Man has a new album out on Friday.

David McElroy

Been on the Chinatown bus too many times to count. Unrelated but Six Demon Bag is also the second Man Man album.

FiddlersGreenDay

.......or not. - Stanger

Mitch Smith

I was in Yellowstone a few years back and on a bus tour with my son and the driver said that was the bus Egg had in the movie.

Jesus Areyano

Better luck next time!

Chaotic but fun.

Adam Lewis

I don't think I've ever heard or read anything bad about Russell.

Adam Lewis

Late to the episode. I came to offer a similar clarification. My understanding is it means "we go again for double the stakes or we walk away oweing nothing."

P L

According to the sauna Russel took a pay cut for Miracle (to make room in the budget to give the 1000 extras lunch)

Alfred Olsen

Anyone know if they discuss The Path to Paradise in this episode? Particularly the audiobook. Thanks in advance

Devon Gravert

What if The Last Action Heroes author was FilmFan?

Adam Lane

Great set of comics!

Cody Eastlick

Angelica Houston is a trip in this.

damn stanger, great ending intro

amy the gorilla

"I just feel kind of...I feel kinda invincible!"

Stephen Navarrete

Wow. I haven't thought about the Fung Wah in a long time. I never rode it, but it had an almost mythological presence in Boston. (One of those really disturbing myths)

Squirt Russell

Hands down this is my favorite movie of all time! You guys should investigate ‘Ice Pirates’ which is a mess of a film, but a fun ride nonetheless.

Nick Taylor

Stanger’s Jeff Bridges just needs a slight tweak. Right now it’s more Sam Elliot, than Bridges.

Don Knott Steiner

I remember they did a graphic novel sequel to this and revealed Lo Pan went to the “Hell for people who were killed by idiots”

Mr Anse Bundren

The thing that crystalized for me on this rewatch is that while I'd never try to argue that this is the best movie ever made for me it is probably the most fun movie ever made. I think its only real competition is Ghostbusters. Also Big Trouble should have won the Oscar for film editing just for the cutaway to unconscious Burton with his arms fully spread wide.

Mitch Kapa

I used to take the Fung Wah bus all the time from Boston to NYC; I really miss going into some bakery in chinatown to buy my ticket and then stand around hoping I was in the right place. It was really the luck of the draw whether you'd make it in disturbingly fast time, or whether the bus would start on fire and you'd be stuck somewhere in Connecticut for a while until they sent another bus down. Sometimes you'd get lucky and there would be a working bathroom, but it was usually luckier NOT to have the bathroom there because someone invariably stunk up the whole bus.

Emily P

ugh, I accidentally watched Big Trouble in Little Vagina again :/

Dark Angel Of The Year

Recently came across Kim Catralls book at a used book mill. It was incorrectly placed on the “erotica” shelf when it should have been in the technical/guidebook/manual section

Joe B

Im really enjoying the Tesla Musk section of the podcast.

Quimberton Mullrooney

Really enjoying the Tesla rant.

I was kind of confused by the "double or nothing" aside. It means "I owe you double or I owe you nothing." It doesn't mean that the person in debt is betting twice the debt to erase the debt.

Adam Kronfeld

There’s gotta be a podcast! I pay em $120 a year in premiums

Bob Brown

In Dark Blue Kurt “was raised up to be a gunfighter by a family of gunfighters.” 5 stars for that line alone

Bob Brown

I've got a very positive feeling about this.

Adam Lewis

That gotta lol out of me. Nice job

Salmon

All Carpenter/ Russell commentaries are great.

The Buffmaster

They did on High and mighty. Ep 105

Daniel the spaniel

is there any regarding henry talk in this one?

This is ALL we have

Where_there's_a_Gwil_there's_a_way

Up here in Bend Oregon if you go to the historical museum they have photos of old Bend baseball teams and right in the middle of the Bend Rainbows is Kurt Russel in all his glory. It's a fun Google to see that beautiful head of hair

Steven Nuchols

For sure... realized I didn't have the Blu-ray, so I ordered and watched with that commentary this time too, excellent to hear

Matt Matecki

My favorite movie of all-time. Can't wait to listen!!

Nitram

I thought something went wrong because I jumped up to Zombie Squad this month

David Powell

Episode is up. Nobody's dead. Good. Good..

The Buffmaster

I’m sure like most fellow janitors I have this movie essentially memorized. But I watched last night with Carpenter and Russell’s commentary and cannot recommend it enough.

Trevor Dowdy

I just figured it was over 4hrs and patreon couldn't handle their massive load.

"Have I uploaded the podcast? Yes sir, the episode is in the mail"

Cyboman on the bread line.

Guys before you make a joke just realize it's already been done 17 times in this thread alone

Hell yeah these daikinis are talking BTILC?? Tanya, clear my schedule.

The good news is we’re all going to take this late posting really well The great news is that the hosts will not make fun of us at all about our reactions

Pretty late today, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder

ALMOST blew my brains out waiting for this

Frank Morris

It's all in the reflexes!

Russell Hall

What a relief, I can get down off this ledge now

Brix

Well, here’s a movie I don’t need to watch in preparation for the episode! (Making Chang Sing gang sign in excitement)

Nathan Rodriguez

This has been such a great stretch of movies, and capping it off with a revisit on Big Trouble is awesome. Can't wait to listen.

Pre

We got ourselves a podcast.

Stephen Cass

Stoked!!

Zachariah Massaud

Wow did not expect this good fortune today

late2stuff

Someone had an aneurism this morning when they couldn’t find the new episode immediately. Pour one out for them. Hopefully they can leave a voicemail from the rehab unit for shadow wolves.

Alex Verno

Too late. I already killed myself this morning.
