What do the boys think about this titan sub story? I think it would be in poor taste to joke about it but it’s soo dumb that it’s fine. But it’s easy to talk about it as an anonymous commentator and not a comedian/writer/waterdog lover. Like every aspect of it is ridiculous. It’s controlled with a $30 Logitech blutooth controller. It’s bolted shut from the outside. The window is only for 1500 meters and they took it to 4000 meters. They charged people $250k each and the ceo skirted numerous safety regulations. He didn’t hire people with submarine experience because they would only point out the issues. And he painted the sub blue and white so even if it got back to the surface, it wouldn’t stand out in the ocean.

I also appreciated the attempt at a Muay Thai fight between Shame and Mendoza. I would like to call a little more attention to Shame's finish of Mendoza. Mendoza lunges with the knife and Shame throws a spinning back elbow which connects with the back of Mendoza's neck. Mendoza falls to the ground with Shame's elbow following so it connects like People's Elbow when Mendoza hits the ground. Even in a movie world Mendoza is at least a quadriplegic after that.

Man I’m a complete Alien 3 apologist. It was utterly messed with by the studio, and has bad VFX. But the vibes and visuals are such a mood, and are underrated. Hopefully the boyz talking about it means they’ll watch it eventually

I liked Red Dragon a lot when it came out. Mostly because of Ralph Feinnes. It was a decent thriller, and I even forgot Hannibal Lector was a character at one point. It did something interesting with the Tooth Fairy. They cast a handsome actor, and they implied that the Tooth Fairy was regarded as handsome by the people in his life. But the Tooth Fairy regards himself as hideous. Maybe I just viewed it that way because I consider Ralph Feinnes to be handsome, and the filmmakers weren't trying to do that at all.

Mark Harmon starred in another dismal made-for-TV Lucas Davenport movie. IIRC John Sandford had nothing to do with either film aside from initially selling the rights. It's a shame that no good Prey adaptations exist (and I highly doubt there's one in the pipeline). Davenport is such interesting character and the series has existed for so long that there's little world-building to do and a lot of directions you could take the protagonist. My taste in lit skews Dad at Airport though so I'm curious if any other janitors are into Sandford.
