Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987)

The ActionBoyz discuss Death Wish 4: The Crackdown.
I owned and operated a roller skate shop for a number of years & I never skate without a fair amount of protective gear because of the amount of broken bones I’ve seen! And I agree there are a lot of hot girls in roller skates (sorry to say it’s much harder for men to look hot rollerskating - not impossible but it’s a high bar)

Pretty tough to do a lot at 66 in 1987.

Hearing them reminisce about kid and schoolyard fights really makes me want a Three 'o' Clock High episode of the pod.

I was one of the kids that would get 3 or 4 dollars at lunch. I was never really that hungry during lunch time so I'd always just pay people a dollar to get whatever little lunch I could get with that amount left. It was usually a cookie and a drink? I hated waiting in line so it worked out for me.

Great Outdoors is fantastic. Maybe because I watched every summer for 30 years when my family went to a cabin deep in the Adirondack mountains, but I will stand by the movie until the day I die. Every line is quotable. It has Robert Prosky.

When I was in rehab, there were teens at the facility in their own group but on family night everyone mixed together. The dads of the teens there all sounded like Bronson's character in this, shit about going to the west side and doing something about all the drug dealers, but of course these suburban dweebs would never. One of the most embarassing things I've ever been a part of.

Also talking kid fights and brawling at a young age me and my core friends built a sweet trail fort and would stick fight other kids for control of it till one kid took an log to the knee and broke it. Kids are dumb

One of my favorite punisher comics rips this plot wholesale with the wealthy benefactor sponsoring the punisher to kill all the marvel heroes and villains. Great pulpy action setup

Death wish 5 (V for non-janitors) is pretty good too.

The boardwalk by my grandparents' beach condo had an overhead electrified bumper car track that I was *not* allowed to enter. My dad and uncles were obsessed with it, though, and it was a nightly activity for them. Every time the ride started the operator would bark over the PA the only two safety guidelines: "ONE-WAY; NO HEAD-ON."
In retrospect, the bumper cars were directly across from Honey Bares, the topless bar. So that crowd was definitely heavily weighted towards scumbags who were loaded and horny.

bumper cars and all the new shit you can do at kids' gym type places (used to be Discovery Zone) are nuts. They have bumper cars that go slow but have a gyro thing in it so you can flip upside down, zip lines through the whole facility, everything is a trampoline

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone,
And that has twenty-eight days clear
And twenty-nine in each leap year.

70’s and 80’s my Dad’s best friend dragged him to the opening night of Charles Bronson films. My Dad took notice of the guys who attended these showings solo. He described how they talked to the screen, under their breath, often directly to Charles himself.

Just a perfect Action Boyz movie. Maybe even a perfect movie? Who knows. I remember Kay Lenz as a frequent guest star on Reasonable Doubts, the early 90s lawyer drama starring Marlee Matlin. Marlee Matlin was my big 7th grade celebrity crush, so I tried to catch every episode.

When Roger Moore decided to leave James Bond it was partially because how he felt about the age differences between him and the Bond girls. Which by his last movie was “only” 22 years in A View to a Kill

There’s a 32 year difference between Bronson and Lenz! Gotta be one of the biggest age gaps I’ve seen in a movie couple.
