Action Boyz Listeners: NEED HELP. Hey, does anyone know the first episode where they start doing Hugh Grant bits and impressions? Listening to Taking of Pelham 123 ep and it's great stuff. Any eps anyone can think of would be great. Also, how come the ABZ wiki is so weak? No one wants to put up the classic characters that drop by in each ep? Maybe I'm missing a good site for the stuff. Love ya, kisses.

Architecture?

You pay for this, you know…

Sean Hutchinson

The sign of a true ABZ stinker: immediately after recapping the production logos/first shot of the film, they spin off for 30 minutes talking about literally anything else.

Gabrus talking about Joe Vs the Volcano makes me want a Shadow Wolves where the Boyz just talk about one of their favourite movies for the whole ep

Bring me the Head of Warren Oates

"If You Could Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot is a truly devastating song once you get the lyrics.

The long run-time is a big selling point for me. My duties down at the ol janitor factory are soul-crushingly monotonous.

John Blood

That always cracks me up. Whether it’s talking about the movie or just shooting the breeze, I’m just happy to have a new episode every Monday

1 out 5,000 found that interesting. 5 stars

Just a classic mid-pandemic-esque ABZ episode. Minute 53 of the pod, barely through the first scene of the movie. Love it.

Sean Hutchinson

Be nice to Stanger

Every time one of these shitty 90s sci-fi movies makes the lineup, I feel a little more sorry for Johnny Mnemonic enduring punchline status.

Dark Angel Of The Year

Freejack was a helluva lot of fun, and this episode was top notch.

David Bauer

I just read an article about how the heir to the Hapsburg dynasty is a F1 racecar driver

David

About an hour after finishing the episode my kid found an injured squirrel at the park. Thankfully there’s a wildlife rehab center 30 minutes away so the shovel stays out of the picture. Like Alex Furlong said, “There’s no fate but what we make.”

Bob Brown

Sara Paretsky's Indemnity Only, the first in the V.I. Warshawski series, is a good read. Her writing style is similar to Ross MacDonald's, though her characters aren't as remote, and V.I. had a little more depth than Lew Archer. The 1992 Kathleen Turner movie, while not great, is fun, and would be a good watch for the podcast, too.

Michael Pemulis

Have the boyz ever discussed presidio the movie with sean connery and gibbs from ncis

Sneakaboard

Thanks for the GI Jane shoutout!

David

Would the boys ever cover Angel Heart for Octookie? The relation to Freejack is that Trevor Jones did the music for both movies, and you can hear the similarity with the drone-y synths and the saxophone.

David Bauer

He wrote Brown Sugar while filming Ned Kelly so I think that places it ahead.

Kids these days won’t know what its like to grow up in a pre food delivery time

Hell yeah

was Anthony Hopkins’ marriage to Rene Russo in Thor a Freejack reference?!?

Eric Manch

How was this movie both better and worse than I remembered? Also that end credits song is almost as good as the point break one.

AFistfulofGwildors

Mick Jagger's worst performance: this or Ned Kelly?

Adam Lane

Could not stop thinking about Loaded Weapon 1 while watching this

Do we want to know?

Stranger's story about the squirrel reminds me of the ugly shame of finding a dead mouse in a glue trap: "You, enormous human with your enormous human brain, couldn't come up with a better solution than torturing this tiny animal to death."

Adam Lewis

Is his blaster a caulk gun?

What is Stanger’s take on The Healing Powers Of Dude? He name dropped it quickly and I have a personal connection to it…wasn’t sure that anyone actually watched it until now. Was his point that a studio may have already used AI to write the level of dialogue that Steve Zahn delivers (via Dude)? That one hit me hard this morning…literally did a spit take.

Do “So I Married…” as a Shadow Wolf, please…? “There’s a piper doon, there’s a piper doon!” 🤣

Dave McM

Phew! Glad the writer's strike didn't stop this from coming out
