On Deadly Ground (1994)

What does it take to change the essence of a man?

It takes the kinda guy you could drop off at the Arctic Circle wearing a pair of bikini underwear, without his toothbrush, and tomorrow afternoon he's going to show up at your pool side with a million dollar smile and fist full of pesos. We’re talking about the legendary Forest Taft this week. We’re talking about ON DEADLY GROUND, a true masterpiece.

Hell yeah

Will See

have talked about Dave’s Killer Bread and his crazy life-of-crime story? Shits wild

This is unofficially the 2nd Doughboys crossover.

Dave McM

someone has to keep this train on the tracks tbh

G

I liked it.

Emery Bowden

Wondering how many more times Rodgers will blatantly interrupt Stanger and Gabrus before they finally snap.

So is it killer bread because Dave is a murderer?

Cosmic Gi

anyone complain here yet about rodgers saying r lee ermey’s name wrong like 20 times in this? not gonna read a single comment to see if i even need to write this one

Bobby Jones

I’m a fan of the weekly audio issues, it’s like a nice late pandemic summer treat

G

His role is like he's playing cards with his brother's kids or somethin

Dan S.

So the ending of this was clearly a Billy Jack riff, right? Seagal was clearly expecting everyone to storm out of the theater fired up for change

Jeremy Smith

…Quimforter?

I like to picture Seagal inviting everyone over to watch the Oscar nominations, and being crushed to not be nominated for Best Director. Like that video of Spielberg with Jaws

Drowning is a leading cause of death in children (per the CDC, more children in the US ages 1–4 die from drowning than any other cause of death except birth defects), and infant swim rescue is not as aggressive as Ben made it sound, at least if you go to a halfway decent place.

Jenn

Idk, laughed my ass off at the Ashli Babbitt toast. Wish I had thought of that at the 4th of July celebration.

Bob Brown

"I'll always be KING OF SPAIN"

Jon Smith

The guy that did the Billy Bob interview was later fired for sex crimes. And was also in that band Moxy Fruvous, ‘famous’ for the song ‘King of Spain.’

Jesse Crap

1970's Hamburglar is clearly a meth addict. Those teeth don't lie.

Hard To Gwil

Did StangerBot get in the mainframe at the 92 min mark?

Jessie

Loving all the beverage discussion.

Frank Morris

Did anyone else know the slap game as "hot hands"?

Fan_of_giants_420_69

Dave from Dave's Killer Bread is an ex convict meth head that "turned his life around" making bread. Then like 5 years ago he relapsed and smashed up a bunch of cop cars in his Escalade. Good times.

The best part of this ep was Gabrus assigning them roles in the movie. At least once a month I think about that Bloodsport story Stanger told about not wanting to be the one guy while they were playing Bloodsport and the fight that broke out in his friend group and then the reveal they were like in highschool.

Dr. Wolfman's Got Nards Is Just Fine

Dave's Killer Bread is legit delicious. My dick has never gotten hard from toast before, but that bread with a little Irish butter is splooshtown. Also delicious with grilled cheese. (Not that it matters as Gabrus is probably the only one who eats bread and the other two fruity-ass salad boys never touch the stuff.)

Alex Hindley

Speaking of weird conflating of McDonalds. In high school the white trash dipshits that worked at my local McDonalds, I knew a few from school, when bitching about work would say "Happiest Place On Earth, my ass!"

Jon Smith

those fucking little cigarillos. He goes through two of them in the opening scene, two shots of him lighting up THEN IMMEDIATELY TOSSES IT

Jon Smith

Dave Dahl, Dave's Killer Bread dude is an interesting feller. He's a meth addict, been in and out of jail/rehab, took over the family bakery and started pumping out some dope bread.. "not bread on dope" I think that's one of his slogans? I dunno I went down the rabbit hole a few years ago that's what I remember. I heard he had done time, I just wanted to make sure the "killer" part of the name wasn't making light of murder.

Jon Smith

Billy bob Thorton was hilarious and best part

Tyler Forrest

Pretty sure this was the "good old fashioned movie" Trump wanted Greta Thunberg to go see when he rage tweeted at her a couple years ago.

Bob Brown

R. Lee Ermey (pronounced er-mee)

Jeff Wells

“Dirty one for me, Forrest.”

Tyler Forrest

so glad to have some segal

The Coin Guy

Yeah after the glitch it looped back it seems

josh jeffers

Wild, at 1:32 the audio from 1:18 plays. That's a first for a podcast.

Irvin

I just want to say that this movie is fucking insane. Like easily the most Seagal at his Seagal worst but this truly is insane. The most fucked up part about it is its not just a weird fever dream of a movie because its got no budget. They spent a lot of money, got a lot of solid people in the film, and its just a complete incoherent nightmare with all the hallmarks of classic Seagal. I urge anyone who might skip watching this and just listen to go watch this film. It basically ruined my weekend and is still haunting me this Monday morning.

Scott Tammel

Nevermind, looks like a momentary glitch

John Paul T Pickett

Around the 90 minute mark, rodgers audio is sped up or jumbled. Anyone else hearing this?

John Paul T Pickett

He 100% does not hit the deck, everyone else including his henchmen cower behind him.

clams

Rogers and Stanger were on their tandem Peloton and Gabrus was doing gravity bong hits/zercher squats.

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

Yeah like every morning

bloodflart

Wait, Michael Caine totally doesn’t hit the ground when Seagal bombs the fire in the beginning right?

Sam Riebesehl (Reeb-Uh-Shell)

Anyone else think Gabrus smoked weed and forgot to upload the episode? We know Gabrus does smoke weed, and weed can make you forget things. Thoughts? Or maybe Stanger left it in the sauna. Stanger uses the sauna almost every day so that's also pretty likely I think. Maybe he left it in his backyard sauna, but it could be the one at the gym he goes to. I guess Gabrus also could have left it at the gym, since he also works out, but my money's on him being stoned. Or maybe Rodgers left the file on the body he was getting rid of.

Kieran Steeves

Watched this and Deep Cover last month. Both involve intense games of slaps.

Jack McReynolds

Not to go all “Clerks” on this movie. But Seagal killing anyone with a gun when he’s first infiltrating the drilling station does make me think he had no idea who’s corrupt or not. Any guy just getting a paycheck to guard a refinery could have no idea what McGinely and Ermy are up to, yet get brutally murdered anyway

Sam Riebesehl (Reeb-Uh-Shell)

Eating some Dave's Killer bread as the Boyz talk about it. Time is a flat circle. (Don't tell Stanger I'm eating this early.)

Gil Slits

Was anyone else’s reaction this morning, “What did I do wrong?”

Conor Hunter

KittyBittyButtStuff

*large carrot and two melons*

KittyBittyButtStuff

Showing up just for the hour+ of Seagal impressions. Zero sarcasm.

Gabbagoon

We got ourselves a podcast episode!

Daniel Rosales

What is this, Planescape Torment !?

Big Junior

Checked the feed first thing this morning, and Patreon was down. Ugh. As I was getting ready for work, the power went out. Couldn’t make coffee… it’s been a harrowing 3 hours. I’m not sure which chemical dependency is more severe… coffee, or Action Boyz?

ValleyGeist

fuck yeah
