So it turns out there are some pretty impressive (and entirely unintended) loopholes in Gammatech's HR policy that strictly regulates relationships between junior and senior employees. Kaela and Maeve are a junior and senior employee who happened to have one of those unauthorized relationships- officially categorized as an unethical power imbalance entanglement.
It started out as Kaela (the junior employee) offering certain favors in exchange for a guaranteed pay increase, but somewhere along the line, the transaction got messy. Feelings crept in. Eventually Kaela was finding herself walking out of Maeve's office with nothing to show for it but a smile.
But, as these things tend to go, they were found out. A slip up somewhere no doubt. Desperate to keep their jobs and their relationship, they went off-grid and booked a back-alley body mod. No authorized clinic would take the risk. A few sacrifices had to be made during their corporate merger.
Still- loophole closed, problem solved. After all, it’s not an unauthorized relationship if it’s just… you. And really? They’re doing better than ever.
