July, July, It's a Heck of a Month

Hello again.

As always, thank you so much for continuing to support me here on Patreon.

With July now upon us, so we begin the final countdown.

This is what will happen:

As you can see, it’s quite the extended period of time I am away.

Naturally, there is still the spectre of these hanging overhead:

If you do not know what I’m on about, I wrote a summary of Patreon’s plans here back in March.

And in addendum, here is an official summary of the Online Safety Bill: note, I do not yet know what the ramifications of this will be upon Patreon itself, other international companies operating within the UK and international audiences, but it’s something that I, as a UK citizen, will be directly impacted by and will affect how I’m able to continue to exist online.

As of writing, 1st July 2023, via Twitter, I’ve become increasingly aware of many US-based Content Creators receiving their summons to identify themselves. It has not yet happened to me, and I am concerned that it may all kick off when I’m away.

As indicated in the illustration, I will keep you posted the best I can—there’s not much I can do whilst in Botswana, but once I’m back in England, at least I can use my phone. There is something I shall need to do before I leave the country, in particular to address my lack of interactivity.

It’s been months since I last did a poll; I need to figure out the happy balance between content that I myself would want to draw, but also that which you Patrons want to see.  After all, it’s superfluous if I’m just aping what others draw for free and post on social media, right?

And it has been a long time since I last updated two of my comics (Infurlation Redux and Battlefield Foxglove) – I wish these things weren’t so intrinsically tied with one’s state of mind.  It's less not knowing what to do plot-wise, that's all been written out; i's simply sitting down and doing the actual drawing bit.  Time-consuming and a bit boring so I am rather hoping the forced downtime away from the online world and access to my desktop (with its many distractions) will reignite the will to do so.

And that’s about it.   Sorry for this journal being a bit dull and rather light on the illustrations but the clock’s running against me and you’d rather have artwork than an overly-academic wall of text, right?
