Scraps from The Past

So as I’ve been stolidly working on Flora-Fauna-Fen SURVIVE, I realised that I had a scrapped draft for what was originally part 48 from way back in 2019 – Corvix and Magico-possessed-Nightshade would’ve been duking it already by this point. It’s funny how much this comic has bloated over time. I guess I’m a bit precious when it comes to panelling, composition and balancing the text-to-image ratio; last thing I want to do is produce walls of text or worse, push out the art of the characters talking to make room for blah-blah-blah…

Anyway, seeing as I’m coming to the end of a particular sequence, and some of these preliminary drawings made their way into the finished comic, thought I may as well post them in their glorious unfinished form. This is a bit of a rare one as I don’t tend to draft my comic pages digitally anymore, instead doing crude thumbnails by hand on paper when the mood takes me.

I know this won’t mean much in the grand scheme of things --- I’m not exactly Hergé or Don Rosa or anyone, but eh, it’s something, right? I’m still not at the point where I would like to be as a comic artist, but thank you for accompanying me on this journey and supporting this very convoluted story. Much obliged.
