Character Poll #54

As more or less stated by others, it’s less of VTuber hate and more of a desire for variety. I’m gonna enjoy the poll result at the end of the day regardless.

Thats reasonable, thank you for sharing! And yeah, I had noticed the almost wave-like nature in the quantity of vtuber animations. I originally found Neko's work due to their early vtuber animations so from my perspective it felt like a return to form in a way but I can definitely understand the opposite point of view.

I've weighed in on that over on the Discord so I'll echo the same things I said there. Sorry for the long-winded reply! Personally fatigue plays a big part in it. At times it feels like vtubers win every other month or even two months straight sometimes, so it feels like there's no variety compared to when vastly different characters from vastly different franchises win. Like, we JUST had Kiara win as April rewards, and just earlier this year we had two vtubers back to back - and if Fauna won this month's poll, vtubers would amount for 4 of the past 7 months' animations. When you're not into them it's a bit tiring to see them dominate polls the moment "hololive" "vshoujo" or "nijisanji" is written next to a character's name; and well, when you pay money to support a creator but end up not being into the content at all, it can be very tiring. If it's one stray month yeah sure whatever, but when it's every other month or several months straight... It's just like if you had negative interest into Genshin or Fate or whatever franchise, but characters from that franchise won your favourite artist's poll every other month because they get hundreds of votes if they show up in the poll. I reckon it'd probably get tiring there as well. That and also overall they're hardly even characters really, which probably contributes to the general disinterest. Like, even if I don't know a character or a franchise, I can enjoy a good quality animation of them, but with vtubers it's hard to get into them because they're really just streamers with an anime face. On a personal level, it's also very prevalent because there are other creators I support who also fell down the same "vtuber on poll = vtuber win" hole so sometimes it feels like an avalanche of content I truly can't care for. Now I mean, it IS a poll ultimately, based on people's suggestions, so I don't particularly fault either Neko for putting these as poll options or people who like them for voting for them, but yeah, there's probably why "please not another vtuber" is quite prevalent in the comments especially this time around. tl;dr fatigue from vtuber overload + they're kinda just streamers rather than characters

that's a really good point i think people are just a bit tired of seeing them win is all personally i don't like them more so for personality reasons they are usually really annoying. that being said none can serpase the pure sexual energy of purah so i wasn't worried about this poll

Genuinely don't see what all the hate is about over vtubers doing well in polls. I see a lot of people call it "cringe" but let's be real here, we are voting on a p*rn poll. Whether is "Popular Character X" or "Popular Character Y," we are all pretty "cringe" to begin with then. Maybe that's just me For Clarification: I didn't really intend this as like a defense for vtuber popularity, more so as a genuine curiosity. It just surprises me to see such a vocal negative reaction when they continually do very well in polls.

I’m starting to think Neko-sama needs to do themed polls. Because certain things are either too popular or too recent. Have VTuber only polls, Gatcha Game polls, early 2000’s polls, etc. because too often the vote is basically done in the first 10 minutes depending on who’s on the list. *cough-vtubers-cough*
