Goodbye 2023

In a few short hours here in the USA, another year will have passed us by.  I feel like I've moved past the "Thank God this year's over--bring on the New Year" and am now just in "let's hope we make it to next New Year's, and if we do, and we're not noticeably worse off, it's a victory."

With that said, I've spent the last day taking stock of the artistic segment of my life  and that, at least, has been pretty great.  There were some lean months, but overall it was pretty productive.

I revamped and consolidated my presence on dA.  I finished all three of the multi page sequences I started last year.  I completed nearly 20 standard commissions, and then had a pretty successful sale on some new short form formats this month.  I completed a detailed OC pinup for one client that i'm especially proud of, and fleshed out our mascot Queen Kaiju.   I've had a fun collaboration with another TF artist I really admire (Wereworld), started on another collaboration (more on that next year) and experimented with AI a bit.  I will say it's been very gratifying that some of my recurring clients have been using AI themselves and even after that have been hiring me to draw their characters.  Very humbling, but also very reassuring in these crazy times.

I've got to get back to my wife so we can spend the last few hours of 2023 together, but expect to hear from me soon about what I'm looking to do in the coming year.
