When opportunities go away (with Dan Gvozden)

As someone who was fortunate to find some opportunities early on, hit a ton of rejections and now finds myself in an existential crisis of “okay, where do I go from here?”, it was really encouraging to hear someone I look up to express the same sentiments and questions. Appreciate everything you put out there!

Three things I always think about when pondering rejection: 1) David Lynch has had his art rejected. https://apnews.com/article/eda18460eabdb58feded536ca40ed9a0 2) Every program is part of a marketing effort - they are not necessarily looking for candidates who will benefit the most from the program, but candidates who will advertise the program after they graduate. Some of the selection criteria is based on that. 3) The work is always there. Some of my biggest rejections from an art/commercial sense hit right when new projects were ramping up. I didn't have time to mourn the loss because I was too busy rolling up my sleeves and focusing on the next big thing. I know this might land as cold comfort. I am really sorry for your struggle/pain and look forward to your next podcast. Thank you again for this.
