Welcome Everybody: Decide My Next Upload!

Hello everyone!

So the Patreon has quadrupled in size since the Rule 34 video came out a couple days ago. Which is crazy to me. Who would have thought R34 would drive so many people to support me? It certainly wasn't my plan the whole time. Anyways, welcome to the Patreon if you're new here, I hope you enjoy your stay.

Now I don't have any plans to make an immediate follow up to the Rule 34 video. At least, not until I find an interesting angle. So don't expect this Patreon to be full of lewd content for the time being. Most of my videos are safe for work, I swear.

I do have a couple different ideas for videos I've wanted to work on though, so I wanna put up a poll to let you decide what I make next!

The Weird World of Canadian Kids TV

Not a lot of people are familiar with some really good kids shows from my home country of Canada, so I wanted to make a video about some of my favorites! This video would just be me going through a ton of shows, giving each one a brief rundown. I'd also use the idea as an excuse to talk a bit about the weird history of Canadian television, with stuff like CanCon and how Canadian TV would intercept the Superbowl broadcast to play Canadian ads on it.

I Watched The 20 Highest Grossing Chinese Movies

In a similar vein to the Canadian TV video, I thought it would be really funny to watch all of the highest grossing movies made in China, because most English speakers like me have never heard of any of them. I'd go through and rank them or something, and just talk a bit about any fun history of Chinese cinema that I find along the way.

Video Game Piracy Is Good, Actually

This one is pretty self-explanatory. A rant-style video where I talk about why I think piracy isn't as bad as everyone says. Mostly just going through and responding to common arguments against it, talking about some cases where it's necessary, and maybe going through some of the history of famous lawsuits and other things around it.

Pitch Me Ideas!

If you have any ideas for videos I should make, feel free to drop them in a comment below. With so many new people to the Patreon, I figure some of you probably have some great pitches, so I'd love to hear them!

I mean. “ until 2028-30”? You know greed will keep them going past that.

Connor Hicks

Sure! Send it to me

Lextorias

If you want some industry insight and numbers from a very well known triple A studio on how piracy led to them letting go 40% of their staff and focusing on SaS and micro-transaction models to survive, let me know. Edit: And some second hand knowledge on how some big publishers plan to make games in general a paid service until 2028-30

nidar

It's not going to win (and I would watch any of these videos of course!) but I hope you make the Canadian Kids TV video someday! I'm from the US, but my friend is basically a Stickin' Around historian to me so I've always wanted to know more lol

Zero Hutchinson

funny enough, it was your attention to detail that made me say "You know what? I'm in!" because I watched your Cyberpunk video right afterwards, and I am a HUGE fan of the genre and the game. so here I am! :D

Connor Hicks

It’s your settings, man.

Max Goldstein

I got a ton of free members too, which is a thing now I guess

Lextorias

836 members, $436 a month. Sounds like a lot of folks are paying a penny for uncensored smut and will be gone next month. Sigh.

Max Goldstein

Especially with Ubisoft's recent statements about gamers needing to get comfortable not owning their games

VinGareth

Or more that I am aware of that I didn't know were from Canada

Surina Slack

I'm too intrigued by Canadian kids tv since I grew up in the US watching AYAOTD and You Can't Do That on Television on Nick - there's gotta be more gems I'm unaware of

Surina Slack

I think the piracy one would be interesting from your angle because although the topic has been discussed to death, you usually have a more nuanced take on common subjects. Ive had the piracy debate multiple times and i feel like the discussion is very circular as is so potentially adding a new point of discussion to the mix might be interesting. One thing that ive found that you might want to look more into is the fact that many piracy sites are hosted in cou ntries where it is legal. Canadian shows is my second vote though.

Brian Boddicker

The Canadian tv one sounds interesting 🤔

Donald Froelich

I think a well reasoned take on the piracy angle, particularly in the context of platforms as a service (think like Netflix). It's a broadly discussed topic, but rarely a deeply discussed topic. That being said, I think all three would be fun topics.

Tyler Moore

The one on Canadian kids shows is such a good idea but your likely mostly American Patreon base is never gonna vote for it😭😭

Avram

Looks like "Video Game Piracy Is Good, Actually" will win but I hope "The Weird World of Canadian Kids TV" will eventually get made too

GiantPurplePen15

If you go the Chinese movie route, I recommend reaching out to Accented Cinema to collab, their content is phenomenal and can add some important background

Bean

I know I am the minority here, but I would interested in either canadian or chinese. Mostly because there are so many youtubers who covered the piracy before. Though it will be easier to do research and probably safer for views.
