The cleansing of the ranks is proceeding nicely. Now that my faithful hear my call, they are purging the hate-filled usurpers from existence.

You’ve done good work, clearing out the white supremacists that took up the symbols of our pantheon.

Since the majority were using my hammer as their symbol, I felt it my duty to force them to either give up the symbols, or their lives. Preferably both.

I can’t say I don’t sympathize. I’ve been working with Prophet, trying to get rid of the insane zealots in the Christian and Muslim faiths. But there’s a lot of them.

Indeed. And, unfortunately, getting rid of them will require an ocean of blood. Too many are only faithful because they believe that holy war makes their racism righteous.

Still better than dealing with the Zionists infecting Judaism. Patriarch is trying to figure out how to deal with them without eliminating the Holy Land.

Oof. That isn’t even my holy land, and I know that’s not going to be a fun time. What has he been considering?

Joint effort. Get the militants in my religion and the Zionists to fight, but use our powers to ‘tilt the scales’ so that they wipe each other out.

And the least bloody of the options we’ve found. They don’t listen to words of peace anymore.

Having to set up and betray your own people, even misguided as they are, is going to take a toll on you both. You know that, right?

Yes. The System and what we’ve seen in the Galactic level of GodNet confirms it. However, their extremist actions are already threatening to further warp the gods that our shared deity is splitting into.

Hmm. Perhaps it would be better if you arranged someone else to do this? Instead of getting your own to fight and die, if someone set them up?

Won’t work. We considered that. Eventually, the deception would come out, and it would turn the dead into martyrs, possibly uniting both against the one(s) doing the tricking.

And the possibility of internal cleansing, like HammerTime did?

HammerTime was fighting outsiders who claimed the symbols for their ideology, not people who truly believed in the faith. That’s a significant difference.

We’re talking about ingrained zealots that are part of the faith, and suborning it. What HammerTime dealt with was external injury. What we’re dealing with in our faiths is more akin to cancer.

I dislike the way we’re talking about the slaughter of entire demographics. Isn’t there a way you could do this without so much death? Maybe divine revelation?

No. Our faiths have had too many ‘false prophets’ and ‘reformers’ over the years, and the zealots are too deeply ingrained, and too powerful. Maybe if we used mental magics on a regional scale, but that risks the same backlash as with someone tricking them.

If trickery whether normal or mental won’t work, then perhaps direct action? Not by a faith, but by someone who can strike at will?

If a divine being did something like that, it would risk Godslayers getting called in, Sage. Maybe if someone brought out a Tier 4 monster…

That would be a cataclysm. No one on Earth would be able to stop the creature!

Not for a while, at least. However, if the monster set up shop in, say, Jerusalem, and wiped out the Zionists there, then SaintPete and Prophet could use some revelations to go and send the troublemakers at the target to ‘reclaim the holy land’.

It would still be a brutal, bloody affair, that could possibly get out of control. However, it would avoid further warping any of the faiths involved, and without the US propping up the Israeli state, due to said state no longer existing, that would cause tensions in the region to plummet. This will likely be the best way of dealing with things.

You’re forgetting about the little fact that there are no Tier 4 monsters on Earth. How do you plan on getting one?

You should know as well as any that I have ways of getting things that aren’t open to others here on GodNet.

Through your connection to the Forbidden Chambers of Exotic Pleasures dungeon, yes. Or, rather, from being the dungeon itself.

I’m both, actually. And it isn’t a problem if this information gets out on the Earth GodNet, but I’d prefer it didn’t spread too far amongst the Mortals, or in the Galactic level of GodNet. My base is firm and secure here on Earth, but I have not yet reached an unassailable position in the larger galaxy.

I was a human turned into a dungeon by the System when it turned on. Then the System turned me into a god, after people started praying to me at the altars I made.

So, you’re going to get a Tier 4 monster from somewhere else in the galaxy, by buying it from another dungeon and releasing it into the wild?

Oh, heavens, no. That’s the kind of thing that gets a dungeon declared rogue, and gets the Dungeonkillers called in. Just like how a god doing something like that might get Godslayers brought in.

Well, if I were going to do something like that, I would first have to purchase the creature off the System Shop, and then take my avatar and go to the Adventurer’s Guild on another planet, and pay someone to come to Earth and open a [Capture Ball] in the target area.

That sounds unnecessarily complicated.

Only because it adds enough layers of free will and mortal decision making to make it so that I was not directly smiting anyone or directly releasing monsters into the world. Other gods use it to get around some of the GodNet restrictions, when they need to make something happen without being tied to it. Counts as a ‘divine trial’, rather than an extermination attempt.

And what would you ask for to take care of this?

Tier 4 monsters are not exactly cheap, or common. And you don’t want one of the ones that will try and expand their territory. Probably would need a dragon. And it couldn’t be under a Slave, Thrall, or other such title, unless it was also under a concealing effect. Not impossible, but pricey.

However, since these zealots are a problem for everyone, I’d be willing to do it in return for a favor, each, from the three of you, to be determined later. Nothing that would contradict your faiths or cause undue harm to your people. But it would likely be something that you might not otherwise want to give me.

Now that is settled, what is this notification I saw about you and Iochaeira forming a formal alliance?

A strategic alliance. Our domains are tangentially linked, and being able to use ships with the Wormhole drive that his people are using. In return, his shrines are mine, and mine are his, and we fight together, against any threats.

Interesting. And while you are both ‘tangentially linked’, you have strengths and weaknesses in different areas that can cover for each other. And, through her and your dungeon you have links to several pantheons.

No trick. Can’t exactly trick major System alerts like that. After my final confrontation with Pofmis, I sold her to her sister, Selphie, with some conditions. One of those conditions was that she could not heal the damage to her divine form until she bore a son, who then gave her a son, who then gave her a son, and then all three of them gangbanged her together.

And how does this relate to the announcements?

Well, since Pofmis hadn’t had a son yet, someone had to start that off. Selphie asked me to do the honors, and I may have talked her into making it a three-way, impregnating both of them.

No, this is a decision with strategic benefits, as OwlEyes said. I am not looking to ‘conquer’ her, and she isn’t trying to ‘tame’ me. However, we understand that Earth’s best path forward is if the world gets its shit together and puts aside some of the pre-System bullshit. Which is part of the reason I’m so willing to help Prophet and the others out without asking for much in return. We have thirty-five years, give or take, until any protection that the Ambassadors can give us wears off. When that happens, Earth needs to be able to stand on its own, or it is going to get gobbled up by whoever thinks it will make a nice add-on to their empire.

And before anyone starts asking why gods should care about such things, I’ll point out that gods can die, if their believers die out, or forsake them.  Which means that if an alien empire comes in, with their own gods, and starts trying to kill or convert everyone, and Earth doesn’t have a strong enough defense in place…

Precisely. That is the likely outcome if we do nothing. However, even gods like us are limited in what we can do directly. That said, there are ways to do things indirectly, especially if you ensure that you have enough people paying attention, all at the same time.

Hence, a wedding between two of the most recognized gods on the planet. At least of those who are active. A clever trick. You would have made a good trickster goddess.

I take the compliment in the spirit it was given. Strategy is a less playful form of trickery, and one needs Wisdom to see the potential ends a trick might lead to.

So, what is the plan, exactly?

The ceremony will be at the Parthenon, on the fall equinox. Members of the public will be there, naturally, so people can spread the word, but we would hope that any deities or divine messengers who want to attend will send an avatar, as long as they can leave any pranks or trouble until afterwards. I’m also going to get in touch with some dungeons in the region, and see if any of them want to send avatars, as well.

A public gathering of gods, dungeons, and mortals, like the private summit you arranged before. But this one open to everyone, and likely getting broadcast around the world, possibly even sent out to other planets, as well, since your church extends to the stars. And doing it on a night that is holy to a wide range of faiths, at one of the most recognized temples in the world.

And a perfect propaganda moment, since it is more like a state wedding than a press conference or something like that. You would be sending a message, either explicit or implicit, that will echo far further than any normal event could do.
