Christmas Cookies! Caelum Sky 2020. Important Stuffs!
Added 2020-12-05 19:49:35 +0000 UTCHey there! So what a year! We started out 2020 with about 50 patrons on board, and we've grown each month despite this....miserable year and it's miserable problems. And I have to thank you guys for that. Caelum Sky's been a story I've wanted to bring forward to more people, and you all have given me that opportunity to pursue this seriously. It's absolutely a dream come true, and I thoroughly enjoy everyone's comments per page, and everyone's enjoyment we've gotten so far. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
2020 for me's been very up and down. Caelum Sky's kept me chugging along in the worst parts and given me hope for getting better and keep producing. It's been a way for me to ignore my issues at that moment and just get lost in storytelling and painting. In January, I'd signed up to do 27 shows worldwide with my MTG career; I was going to be going out of the USA for the first time, was excited to see the world and sightsee, sell at shows and ideally at the end of the year, I'd be looking for my first house to purchase. Obviously, that stuff all changed.
In March I got very sick by hanging around the west coast at a show in Reno, NV with what's universally agreed upon by my doctors as very likely covid. After about 11 days being sick, I developed pneumonia, then throughout this whole year it's been one thing after another. I've been tested and xrayed and CT scanned all year, finally found these calcified granulomas the size of peas in my lungs, and etc etc etc. Basically, instead of having funtime 2020, I had sicktime 2020, but what made this year not totally shitty was this Patreon, and the fun I had each Monday and occasionally Thursday posting and talking about it with you all. Since I couldn't breathe super well it made me stay inside more, so more pages got produced. Life just has a weird way of working out. (my prognosis is good, waiting on results of one more test, but things should be fine and I'll probably come out of this with some lung scarring)
Anyways! I know things are tough right now, and I wanted to give back. My idea is to make christmas cookies for everyone. There's some immediate downsides- Post office hates when you send international mail with food, Food would be undoubtedly stale as heck by the time it got overseas since packages take 3-8 weeks to get there, and food allergies. As a person with many food allergies, I get it. Which then keeps me from making alternate versions of the cookies since a lot of the alternates to gluten are usually nuts, which i'm horrendously allergic to.
Basically, I would like to make three types of cookies for you all. I understand there's a chunk of international patrons that wouldn't get those, I understand there's a number of people with food alleriges that wouldn't get them. I'll make a google docs list so I can customize your order if you're allergic to peanut butter, let's say. I got some cookie cutters produced for sugar cookies like Neri and Raziel's head:

I'm thinkin as an alternate, I'd make some postcards with a comic strip on them for our international and gluten free folks. I've also got to shore up my 10 dollar patrons for products they haven't received yet, including a pin that's not even for sale yet :D
I've been trying to figure out for the last few weeks since I had this idea, how i'd manage postage. With domestic postage being 3-4 dollars each, 160 patrons adds up (less since international, less since gluten/allergies, but still a good amount of people) and originally i was going to ask for postage. But given how it's been with everyone, that doesn't feel right. Given this is going to USA folks most, and how....trying our lives have been in the last few months, that doesn't feel right either.
If you'd like to donate towards postage, you're welcome to, but I certainly won't force you.

So look in your emails for specific surveys about your tier! I'll be sending those out shortly. You'll be able to deviate from the standard package of cookies if you've got allergies and issues with them. And if you can't receive cookies, then be sure to fill it out for at least a free Christmas themed postcard. I'm looking to start making these next week, our county here is an especially bad hotspot so it's not like I can go outside much, haha. At least my apartment will smell nice!
I'm sorry that our international folks won't be able to participate much on this, but I want to thank you guys for understanding. This year kinda steamrolled into one big mess.
Love,
Andrea

No cookies for me, but I appreciate the thoughts. A postcard would be nice, (I had the same thought for my own Patrons ^^)

2020-12-07 06:47:23 +0000 UTCI just wanted to ask before placing an order for some much appreciated cookies if I could be one of the last shipments to go out. I am currently overseas and didn't want to ask you to bake a few for me when they would be stale by the time I returned (22nd). Nobody likes stale cookies :( I know I'm being awfully presumptuous asking for conditions on a gift done out of appreciation for your Patreon supporters. So I have chipped in a good size donation for your shipping costs to apologize for my temerity in asking no matter what your response might be.

2020-12-06 19:30:33 +0000 UTCYou certainly are an inspiration, and one that I wish more would follow the example of! I admire the spirit that you've displayed in seeking out a way to cope with the tumult of this year. And not only have you done it in such a way to keep your mental state healthy even while your physical one was not, you brought a creative project out there for many more to enjoy. I humbly give you a tip of the hat for the doing so well in such challenging times! One quick question for you; what days are you thinking of for sending these cookies out? I wish for nothing but the best for you, and hope your health continues to improve!

2020-12-06 12:12:21 +0000 UTCI really appreciate that, thank you! But if you want a postcard, the shipping rates on those are infinitely better than most, haha.
