Explanation for the opening scene: The white Aes Sedai tells Elaida that she is of the White Ajah, aka logic, reason, etc. right after Elaida has come out of the doorway. That doorway is seen as very risky to enter and it doesn't sit right with the White Ajah that Elaida would do something so reckless.

As for her stilling in the show, i think a "normal" stilling would look exactly like Logain's gentling in S1, but Elaida purposely made it as painful as possible for Siuan with the spikey bits. I forgot in what interview, but the showrunners said that there are several characters that play important parts in the book and then go on to play minor roles, and that might not always be the case in the show. If such a character's role in the future could be filled easily and logically by another existing character, they might not necessarily go on in the show, or something akin to that. Both for practical and storytelling purposes.

2025-04-18 22:40:57 +0000 UTCSorry if you get a repeated comment - keyboard foo - The location where the Tanchico crew is searching for the collar is in the Panarch's Palace - The purple fire (Balefire) erases actions from the pattern...and depending on the intensity of the stream, it will backwards erase those actions (that's why you see that ghost image and the damage to the ceiling reverses itself). - Nice callback to Prince of Egypt when Nynaeve broke her block! Everyone is making the Moses reference but yours is the best :-D - That other thing Mat asked for in the book...it was there in the frame when he got out. It just wasn't made a big deal of and it wasn't center frame.
