I'm glad you said she was a general. I misunderstood/misremembered and thought she was queen/empress/whatever ruler of Noxus and was kind of confused as to how she would just leave her empire to be ruled by someone else in her absence.

2024-11-12 22:03:39 +0000 UTCSo a couple of bits of non-spoilery League lore to fill in some gaps here: "Noxian Soldiers": The Medarda family comes from a country called Noxus, where Ambessa is/was a general. It's a highly militaristic, often expansionist empire where individual strength and prowess are held in high regard. She banished Mel from there to Piltover years ago and has pretty obviously come here fleeing something. "The Grey": The underground is full of factories (hence why the upper city is so intent on keeping control of it.) Over the years, the toxic fumes from those factories built up to form a deadly gas called the Grey. The Kiramman family commissioned/built the ventilation system which diverts the Grey and traps it far underground away from Zaun itself, and Caitlyn used the inherited knowledge of that system to selectively release the Grey wherever the squad was operating. She's basically just been flooding the streets with poison everywhere she goes and nobody in Zaun knows how. What Caitlyn saw on the Bat Computer weren't just future plans to build a ventilation system, they're a map through that system because it was actually built.
