Now I see you did Labyrinth as well (which is my favorite movie of all time and I will hear nothing otherwise), even though I havenโt watched your review yet and will still probably laugh my ass off and forgive you for any criticisms. Aside from the TRAUMA of that horse scene, all I remember is a pretty princess (that I totally wanted to be when I got older), dragon riding adventures, cute race snails, a hungry rock man, and a turtle who's voice sounded suspiciously like my grandma. Adult me was totally unprepared for the way grief and depression weave throughout this story. The swamp of sadness where despair just sucks you down and being unable to save someone who couldn't make themselves go on? The medicine given to Atreyu that makes you "hurt so you can heal"? The man of stone gazing at his strong hands and marveling that they weren't strong enough to keep his friends from slipping away? The boy rejecting his father's words to "keep your feet on the ground" and choosing to keep his mother alive in his imagination by giving her name to the Empress? Holy moly. They DO NOT make kids movies like this anymore.
