Fix It! Roll For Convo Bonus Episode 1: The Star Wars Sound Debate.

Hey Peaches!

The podcast is on summer Hiatus!

Producer Bryan is on Paternity Leave and we are taking a little breather! HOWEVER! We taped some mini episodes of Roll For Convo for you all! The Audio format is where it always is, but we are making the video versions available at all Tiers on Patreon.

This Episode GOES THERE. We debate the nitty gritty of Star Wars: THE SOUNDS. I know that sounds kinda boring, but the boy's have never been more divided. Forget Doors vs. Wheels, this is sound design vs. music.

Hope you are having an amazing summer, Peaches!

The only thing accurate about Adam's argument is that the actors had to be told to not make the sound effects. However! That does make his side valid, because the sounds of lightsabers could be totally different and they would have made those different sounds as well. But overall reason they made those sounds is because they were emotionally invested in Star Wars, and that emotionally connection happens is in part because of the music. Sounds effects could be different and Star Wars would still be as epic. If the music is different, it's not as epic

The caliber of the sound effects is what makes the SW universe immersive. The caliber of the score is what sets the tone and emotion of the SW story. To me, my money is on the score with Jay. Way back when in the 70s, if a different sound design was used, that would’ve been the definition of what xyz sounds like and would’ve become the iconic sound of that item. But if you change the score? You may not have achieved the same depth of emotion, the same feeling to the stakes of the story and characters, etc., and maybe it wouldn’t have achieved that same OOMPH which led it to be as successful as it is today.

No I'm sorry but literally the world changed when the Twin Suns theme came into existence. There was the world before this score, and the world after this score.

“The Disney Star Wars shows have not used Star Wars Music in their trailers.” Umm the Obi-Wan trailer would like to have a word with you, sir.

Jay is absolutely right because when I hear someone say Star Wars. 2 sounds come to me immediately first, Luke Looking out to the twin sun's And then it's a light saber igniting, but but the soundtrack is always first.
