Interesting point about the Kens, Jay. Remember that in Barbie Land, everything is an exaggerated opposite reflection of the real world. The Kens exist only to be accessories to Barbies, just their pretty arm candy. Perhaps that's why none of the Kens seem to have any brains. Kens can only ever be fantasy material for girls, not fully realized individuals with cool jobs like Barbie. Also, here's an interesting fact: in recent years Barbie has expanded its doll line to include different body types for Barbie (like curvy, tall, and petite) but Ken doesn't come in different types. He's still always the pretty boy. I think the movie made a choice to show how unfair Barbie Land is to objectify the Kens and not let them represent all men.

That was truly the most mojo dojo casa house conversation they could have ended with lol

Yo, I have been a Dino Riders FREAK since like 1990. I was so upset when the toy line was discontinued that I got my mom to help me write a letter to TYCO. Yes, TYCO. Back when that existed. I would write the absolute SHIT out of a Dino Riders movie. Let's GOOOO

This was, unironically and extremely seriously, my favorite movie of 2023, and instantly vaulted onto my vaunted (in my own mind, anyway) top ten favorite movies of all time list. The themes about patriarchy, misogyny, being enough, and especially about parenthood (peep the profile picture…my oldest is 17 now, and I took her and her little sister to see this in theaters when it dropped) absolutely WRECKED me. I mean I was a snotty nosed, sobbing, small child sitting in the movie theater…for like…60% of this movie’s runtime. The other 40% I was laughing, of course. Pure, unfiltered joy and beauty. I love this film so, SO much, I had to subscribe to the Illuminati tier explicitly so I could watch this one with Chaboys ❤️

So many great things about this journey of a reaction, but Jay finding out that horsepower is not the power of a single horse is the cherry on top.
