Rings of Power S1E01 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! Welcome back to Middle Earth. And we hope y'all like history, cause we're about to get a crash course. We really didn't know what to expect from this show, but so far so good. Galadriel kicks butt, Elrond is a young smarty pants, and we have a whole bunch of new characters who's name we haven't memorized yet. It's a lot of fun finally seeing some of the things we've only read about.

And am I the only one who thought that there was way too much liquid for just one teat squeeze? π

Ring of Power is great so far. Iβm locked in. Already love Nori. Afraid of whatβs ahead but canβt wait for it all. I decided that you guys are my Rings of Power channel. I love your attitudes and I think we have similar expectations. My GOT expectations caused major distractions, especially in the last 2 episodes. Heβll of a start Amazon. See you guys for e2 βοΈ

ooo! Like Jay, I didn't think I need a LotR prequel in my life, and I had serious reservations about Amazon doing the adaptation. However. This episode was FANTASTIC. Loved watching it with you guys!

Yes...Tumblr is going through it over this series. Some of it is just the Blue Hellsite (affectionate) being its usual horny self, which isn't unexpected. But there's also so much rage, which is (mostly) out of character for Tumblr. There a strange common cause being found between racists, sexists, people who are anti-Amazon as a corporation, and fans who expect this adaptation to be an item by item recreation of The Silmarillion despite the creators of the show not having rights to that content. I'm used to drama in Star Wars or Doctor Who fandoms, but THIS hit me completely by surprise.

Having read the original trilogy, the Hobbit, and Silmarillion, I am absolutely loving this! I was blown away that they actually showed Valinor and the Twin Trees -- never thought I'd ever see it on screen! I don't mind them adapting and telling a different story based on the rights that they have (can't outright do Silmarillion stuff unless it was mentioned in the trilogy books and appendices). Can't wait to see more!

A real quote from tumblr: "They've made Elrond unf**kable, and for that I will never forgive them."

I enjoyed ep. 1 but I really had fun watching ep. 2. I'm glad you guys are loving this show because it is getting so much hate from some Tolkien fans for things that don't even matter (like the short hair on the male elves...no, seriously). I'm liking the music and the visuals, the plot is interesting, and I think the actors are all really doing well with their roles. So far, so good, as you say.

After watching this ep the first time, I thought it was kinda slow in parts. But then I watched ep 2 and looked at several YT videos on the Second Age, and I think it's pretty well-paced for everything that they're setting up. I won't tell you my current theories on who the Giant Naked Man is, but the stone/ship analogy could be very significant there. It's a VERY good beginning imo.

omg I'm so glad you liked it that much) You're 100% right, you have just right amount of knowledge for the show, obv you will miss some really cool easter eggs, but they're in the background. I think it works the best for the new audience and those who have only seen the movies.

I'm loving this. I used to have an old copy of The Silmarillion, which is basically an encyclopedia of history and characters of Tolkien's world. This show seems to be
illustrating some of those events. I'm so invested in the journeys these characters are going to go on and how the events will all cascade into each other. I am so hyped for Galadriel and her growth into the Lady of Light. That stranger from the sky is very mysterious.... Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the next ep!

I am not too shy to say that I legitimately, seriously think the first two episodes of this show absolutely ANNIHILATED the first two episodes of HotD. It doesnβt have to be a competition, I enjoy both just fine, but this show is just playing a different sport, from my perspective.

I'm way into this. I'm a total Tolkein nerd but tbh you really don't have to be to get this (pretty much the bit this is taken from is the last chapter of the Silmarillion and that is BRIEF in a "yeah this happened then this happened then read LotR because that takes it up to there". I think they've struck a good balance because you don't NEED to know everything before this, you can just enjoy it and meet some new and a few old characters and there is room to be surprised. I'm looking forward to the rest and sharing it as an experience with the guys!

Celebrimbor is the elf that forged the Rings of Power! Can't believe they introduced him in the first episode. This is gonna get spicy!
