The Legend of Vox Machina S1E01 Watch Along

Hey Peaches!! Grab your character sheets and dice bag because it's time to start a new quest! The Critical Role show is finally here, and it kicks butt. It has great animation, awesome character, and well written, witty D&D jokes. And as a reminder Jay knows a decent amount about CR, while I (Adam) don't. This is going to be a really fun trip, through a fantastical realm, and a lot of us reminiscing over our own D&D campaigns in the past. Tape your butts shut, cause the next month is going to rock!

Time for another rewatch haha!

When I ran the D&D club in high school, back in the mid-80s, my Mom was part of the club and had her own character. She's been playing ever since. :-) She's now in her 70s.

I wasn't sure when about this show when I first saw the trailer but decided to check it out only because I found out it is Critical Roll. Immediately fell in love with the show! Critical Role is the PERFECT landing spot for an animated series.

Just FYI the boy and girl at the village are voiced by Liam's and Sam's kids

I saw that dragon and immediately knew that whatever level their party's at, it's not nearly high enough. They need to go on some sidequests and kill some goblins or something first.

Jay is correct about Percy dropping bombs. His nickname is No Mercy Percy for a reason.

The only issue in the level up montage for Critical Role is they like to keep it secret even from each other so that when they use that new cool spell they learned its a fun reveal. Liam was famous for this with Caleb in Campaign 2. He would learn a new spell then suddenly whip it out in a fight when needed and it would get the group to cheer. Lots of fun. But I do think a level up montage would be fun if they only reveal what they want... but I feel like often they would just say like "i took a level in paladin..."

You got Ashley wrong. She was in Growing Pains. Also, you did say The Last of Us... in The Last of Us 2 both Ashley and Laura are in it. Laura plays Abby in TLOU2. She won a game award for it I believe. Ashley and Laura were both competing for the same award and when Laura won it Ashley's comments to her brought me to tears. They are such wonderful people!

okokokokokok.... Laura Bailey is a fucking gem. She is a phenomenal roleplayer, voice actress, and she thinks up some CLUTCH-ass shit... cough cough dust of deliciousness. But let me tell you... her husband Travis is a GOD. Truly. He plays his characters so well and is so good at being support to let others shine. But when the group hesitates and gets stuck in what Travis called "analysis paralysis" he is quick to act and take the lead. Him in LOVM as Grog is great. He really uses Grog's lack of intelligence in a very intelligent way. And again he is such a great supporting character that every single one of the player party vibes perfectly with him, regardless of who he is playing. Travis and Laura together make an insane power couple. Those two are my favorites.

I say this with all my heart... Adam... we need you among the ranks of critters. You are full of joy, and seem like a very good guy. And that is what it takes to be a critter. A good heart. ONE OF US ONE OF US!

Honestly, I'd be down for a Patreon exclusive reaction of Adam watching the Cupcake scene from CR campaign 2.

Was the Ashley Johnson Family Ties thing an inside joke? If not... I think you meant to say Chrissy Seaver in Growing Pains lol

I love that you guys also play dnd. As for jay, definitely play a bard. They are looked down on as like a joke class, because they have a stereotype of being goofy sex addicts. I have a favorite character I use that was a big bad from a previous game who is a bard. what qualified them to be a big bad? they were basically Pennywise from IT. mind control. illusions. shapeshifting. animate objects. they even have a spell that is similar to IT's dead lights. no goofiness. no "i'd like to seduce the dragon" jokes. just fear and pain. as a playable character now, they are on a redemption arc so a little less fear and a little more smiles, but still that's the beauty of DnD. You can play your person how you want to :)
