But yes Arcane is definitly smth special, and I think they did a wonderful job to make it fun to watch for league and non-league players. (league players detect a lot of easter eggs and hidden treasures, but they are not nescessary for the mainstory) . Looking forward to S2 (hopefully not another 5 years, but if I heard correctly 2023?)

Which also by the way, really hoping we get some decent Singed backstory stuff. The animation, the plot, the music... everything (Sting in that final song was perfection). Peace was so close... and like Jay said, Jinx just broke and destroyed everything.

And yeah, it's a lot of work and we have teams communicating with each other and also a team to wrangle it all made up of us folks who work in the IP from various angles.

As far as I am aware there is a difference between being officially canon in the league of legends (Game) lore and legends of runeterra (which I think includes everything outside the moba) It seems like it's a lot of work to keep the two categories separated while also making sure each of them is consistent within itself from a lore/narrative standpoint. Especially with different creators wanting to infuse their own creativity. Is there an "fear" of things maybe getting muddled between the MOBA and every other media released? Given how many additional League of Legends projects are in the works.

League isn't a narrative game, but we do make sure (particularly in the work done over the past eight or nine years) that the characters in the MOBA are the tip of each individual iceberg, able to live and breathe beyond the game. We then flesh them out and give them time to feel part of a living breathing world through other stories in different media, such as Arcane, The Ruined King, comic books, short stories, novellas, etc.

Remember the scene where Young Mel is talking about how the new throne room should be designed, and says that there should *always* be a secret exit? This show is tightly written enough that I'd be shocked if that seemingly throw away line didn't actually pay off.

There is so much good stuff here and as you have said in the end if such an amazing shows can be created based on a moba no other video game to cinema/tv production has any excuse of delivering half baked products. And I don't mean any offense to the writers at Riot. You guys do an amazing Job. I just meant to highlight the game itself doesn't really focus on the narrative thread while you play on summoner's rift. (except for easter eggs/references) There some horror game franchises where you'd assume the movie writes itself which large amounts of lore to pull from like Resident Evil for example but yeah..... I don't think us fans want much except do the characters justice and give us a compelling narrative and good cinematography. It's not enough to make obvious references to the game and copy maybe some camera shots with a wink to the audience and be like "It's just like the game! cool ey?" Arcane is a masterclass on narrative. People who've never played the game or even know what league of legends is can get lost in a compelling word and well written characters or just marvel at the animation. And fans of the franchise learn cool stuff about the characters they've known for years and see them in a new light. Each episode built on the last one and re contextualized what came before on multiple occasions. There is so much good stuff in there that it almost feels overwhelming. Also can I give a shoutout to Silco? I'd have never expected for him to end up as one of my favorite characters. I genuinely can't wait the next season and as much as I'd have wanted it to be in 2022 I fully understand that quality needs time. I am sure there is gonna be a lot of pressure on everyone involved to deliver something that matches the expectations that season 1 now has built up with the extremely high praise it has gotten.

The particular thing about Arcane is that it's made in-house by Riot in partnership with Fortiche, so it's not made by Netflix, it's distributed. It's not the usual case of worrying if it will be 'picked up,' I guess. And, I keep using 'we' and by that I mean Riot as a whole not that I'm on the team making Arcane, to be clear, sorry. I work in the IP but not on that project directly. So we won't be seeing Season 2 in 2022, but if you know the lore, there are some beautiful visual clues throughout the season that culminate in the final episode and hint to what might be to come. It's been a joy to watch you fellas react, and I was here with you on Patreon and will be after. As I'm sure the rest of the Peaches will be too. Onward.

Luckily season 2 got announced almost immediately after that (with another WW teaser) so I got my whoosah moment and now I am fine. But, holy smokes this show is amazing. 10/10 easy. One of the best shows I have ever seen. The bar has been set incredibly high. Almost feels sorry for other shows.

Its a bunch of people with good hearts trying to do what they think is right, and they happen to find themselves at conflict with each other. Even the "villain" Silco, despite his means, was trying to right by his people and his daughter.

There was nothing else to show. Amazing ending. Amazing. And in the end, when Piltover finaly decided that they would stop abusing undercity, the undercity replied with Jinx and a big FU - You created the monster, you do not get to wash your hands and walk away. All played out in front of us while Sting sings "I am the monster you created...". Perfection.

Silco actually does love Jinx and isn't, at least to him, manipulating or using her. Mel ISN'T playing Jayce or anyone else but is actually the most dedicated member of the Council and obsessed with peaceful diplomacy. Sevika IS loyal to Silco and the dream. Jinx CHOOSES to kill Powder after choosing her sister over Silco. And that ending man...I was left just sitting there quietly for a good while too. It HITS. Just flawless.

The animation, voice acting, characters, story line, music - it was all absolutely fantastic and worked together seamlessly to elevate the show to a level never before seen, not only in video game adaptations, but animated tv shows and television in general. What Riot has managed to accomplish in just 9 episodes has been amazing. The show has so many memorable moments, I can't stop thinking about it. You can pause on any frame and it will be wallpaper worthy. What I really love about the show has been their use of parallels and how everything kind of comes full circle. Also, happy that you still reacted to this and loved the show so much despite the issue around YouTube. I'll remain a supporter of your patreon - I LOVED your reactions and you both seem so genuine. 2021-11-23 15:58:03 +0000 UTCWhats awesome is that even if there was not a season 2 the ending of this season gives enough for each of the league characters to have their place in the game world. Katilyn and Vi are enforcers. Jinx is chaos Jayce (somehow surviving that explosion) is still doing his thing. A perfect season 2 release would be Mel having that spider sense and revealing she has magic powers which she uses to stop the bomb from killing everyone. (I believe she's rumored to be a LoLs character at some point) which they could reveal once the new season starts.

The song's final line, "What could have been" hitting right as the arrogance and inattention of the ruling class comes back to bite them right as they finally make the right decision for their people. I don't think drawing this particular group's story out for 3 or 4 seasons would be able to maintain the same emotional impact. 2 seasons and move on to a new section of Runeterra.

EDIT: It's very obvious to me that Riot and Netflix knew that they had something VERY special on their hands. They deliberately released this now, right at the start of award season. They know they're gonna get a lot of attention.

Writing and characters were spot on, the animation... the music... dialogue.... it all came together! BI will say it, for me this was the BEST SHOW OF THE YEAR! and I seen all the MCU ones and even SQUID GAME. This resonated with me much more than any of the others.
