Arcane S1E02 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! It's time we find out how the other half live, as we hang out in uptown Plitover. What role does magic have in the world, how do people feel about it, and what exactly are those glowing blue balls that Powder grabbed? Speaking of Powder, it turns out she's a ranged character as she has she maxed out in Dex. and has accuracy in spades. Oh, and the 5-0 are about to crush the undercity, unless someone sacrifices themselves to avoid the looming war.

You know when you find a show that surprises you, shocks you, scares the stuffing out of you, yet makes you want to be in it? Yep!

CBDCDiva

Had a strong feeling Jay's face was gonna light up when Heimerdinger entered that cell door, and I was not disappointed!! Like you two, I don't know league of legends, but love that these watch alongs gave me an excuse to watch the show again... like I needed a reason!! 🀣🀣🀣

Oldish_Goalie

You watch that ginormous fish swim by the window at the end and you asked why they don't dive down and get that bag? :P

FalcorDragon

Love the "people never look up" comment. It's really true. Sometimes I sit in the tree in my front yard while I'm reading. People pass by walking their dogs and never notice the grown woman in the tree next to them.

As much as I have been a league fan since it's US closed beta it has never really gone past the game. The characters were neat and when the lore revamp happened I was impressed that so much care and effort was being put into something that isn't really that present while playing the game. But it hasn't been until the "recent" announcements of more League of legends properties like single player games that bring more of that world to the forefront that I got more hyped about the backstories of the characters present in the game. Especially now Arcane masterfully showing how serious you guys are about world building and bringing everything to life. So I am definitely hyped to see where this all will lead and play out but I also can see that this is probably a monumental task given the around 157 characters LoL now features. Each with their own backstory. This must be such a daunting yet exciting mountain to move.

Yup, really me. Been a Patreon member for a while :)

Alison Hawkes

Wait are you really Scott Hawkes?! That moment a Rioter subs to their Patreon and they're still copyright struck hahaha.

Will bonney

We're getting there. Lots to do.

Alison Hawkes

Will has it! The current LoL main map is an analogous representation of the world of Runeterra. Though the champions (characters of the world powerful enough and important enough to earn the moniker) are designed to live in the game and have characters thematically resonant enough to live beyond the game, there's no plot restriction for any story. Though we try to make sure the core of the character is true in whatever presentation or media they are expressed in.

Alison Hawkes

Yes! The oldddd canon from ages ago was that all the places outlawed war and would fight proxy wars through these "Champions." They completely got rid of that and overhauled the lore later, but that's the idea that started it. Also I'm so sorry you guys got claimed. You're straight up my favorite creators, and I just have your vids on in the background all the time, and these two episodes have unironically been my favorite reactions you've ever made. I'm digging the hell out of this show, and I'm loving being on the ride with you both. I hope things get figured out in some way :/. Thanks for it all

I'm sad, want to watch Ep3 but don't want to betray Jay and Adam....will just have to wait for Ep3 to drop..

Andrew Dickinson

Hey Will, Adam here. So the 'game' isn't canon like say Apex, where the characters play the game and the story revolves around said game. You're saying in LoL that the stories highlight cool characters, and then as a side thing not connected to the ongoing story, these characters fight. That's interesting....

pReview'd

The world is way more fleshed out now though.

Taylor Olsoy

What you said about the game limiting how far stories can go isn't quite as true with League. The old canon/conceit of the league game is that it's basically proxy fighting with "Champions," so the GAME is more like a Smash style situation with all the legendary fighters in their world, we just didn't have their backstories yet. They can kinda do whatever they want with them just because the game itself isn't "canon."

Will bonney

The next episode hook and grabbed me, making me want to play the game.

quirkygeekgirl

two episodes in and Im sort of hooked.

Andrew Dickinson

Seanjax30
