Film Sack 724: Diamonds are Forever

Film Sack is BACK, and this week, so is BOND! A diamond smuggling investigation leads James Bond to Las Vegas where he uncovers an evil plot involving a rich business tycoon. Seems simple enough! Perhaps the audience will feel shaken, and not stirred.
RANDY POEM
Diamonds are Forever
In Las Vegas, 'neath lights and glitzy glam,
James Bond returns with Connery's big ham.
He’s chasing gems, but fighting girls is worse.
Two smugglers, clones, and Blofeld in reverse.
A moon buggy careens through desert sand,
Because, of course, this guy, he doesn't plan.
The point of all this deserty endeavor?
It’s simple, friends. Bad films: they are forever.
IBBOTT LYRICS
Bright light city in the middle of the desert
It's such a sight to see
We've got a huge selection of eight hotels
And all the parking's free
You can get your dice handled by Plenty O'Toole
You'll find her taking a dip in the second floor pool
Access included - Resort Fees are for fools
Seventies Las Vegas
Seventies Las Vegas
[Verse 2]
You can walk down the strip without the fear
Of getting accosted by Pikachu
Nobody flicking cards full of naked girls
And escorts for review
Oh, here's a shrimp cocktail that's a buck ninety nine
Baby elephants playing slots just to have a good time
You can come and count cards, til the 80s that's fine
Seventies Las Vegas

Comments
I have never really liked James Bond films. The corny ones are too corny, the serious ones are too serious, and they all seem to have plot threads that are created to tie together action sequences. That said, I found I really liked watching this one. It's dumb. It has some scenes that go on way to long (the car chase around the block, the moon buggy scene). But it was just enough to keep me interested without making me cringe constantly.

As a counterpoint to the James Bond films, you should consider filmsacking the two other spy movie franchises that tried (and failed) to compete with the Bond franchise: Dean Martin as Matt Helm (there were 4 movies but the The Silencers in 1966 was the one I have fond memories of) and James Coburn as Derek Flint. There were two movies, but the first is what I would recommend: In Like Flint.
