Season 2 launch: 21st March
Added 2022-02-25 10:01:42 +0000 UTCHi, folks,
We had a whole raft of updates planned for you this week, and then global events overtook us - we really hope you’re all keeping safe right now.
Our first update, to come right to the point, is our official summary for Season 2 of The Silt Verses:
Three long months have passed since the so-called ‘Bellwethers Abomination’, and the attack on Greater Glottage Radio by the prophet Sid Wright - and factions across the continent are still scrabbling to interpret these events to their advantage.
In the north, an ambitious politician hires a pair of ruthless god-hunters to track down the Parish of Tide of Flesh.
On the river’s edge, Katabasian Mason welcomes in a new flock of young disciples - but is unpleasantly surprised by an unexpected return.
Tensions continue to escalate between the government of the Peninsula and its old enemy, the Linger Straits. There are whispers that war, another great war, must surely be upon us.
Across the border, a prisoner comes home with a plan that could change everything.
A would-be messiah will learn the cost of leadership. An unlikely group of allies will take a stand against the embedded mechanisms of faith. And a lone exile will embark on a long journey back to the water.
These are the Silt Verses.
As the summary suggests, the season engages with jingoism, nationalism, and self-serving justifications for warfare.
We don’t think there’s anything specific in the story which could be interpreted as tastelessly mirroring or commenting on the horrific events taking place right now in Ukraine...but we also have to accept that some broad/universal parallels will inevitably be there.
We’re going to be sensible and sensitive, make prominent use of content warnings around the topic, and we’re very much prepared to take a pause and delay launch or rollout if we need to at any point.
We don’t want to pile on distress for people who may be having a tough time of it right now, especially our friends who might be affected by real-life events personally - that’s what comes first.
And just to use the space to highlight them, like a lot of people right now we’re making a couple of donations this month to some amazing and all-too relevant causes:
- The International Rescue Committee’s work to support families in Ukraine displaced by the Russian invasion
- TENT’s work to educate and support political action in the face of the horrendous anti-trans legislation being pushed through in Texas.
New logo and merch
We have a new Season 2 logo, created by designer James Harringman - it’s an explosive take on the original S1 logo, depicted as a stained-glass window mid-shatter.
We’ve added the logo to our Redbubble merch store, and you can also see it in all its pop-art glory below:

Season 2 schedule
We’ll be operating a fortnightly release schedule for the season, aiming for now to launch on 21st March.
But subject to everything falling into place, we’re hoping to go ahead and release Ep 1 on Patreon a week early.
That’s a little thank-you for you for your support, but it’s also a little bit selfish: we know the audio levelling in S1 was causing issues for some of you, so we’d love to hear from you if we’re getting the balance right in the first ep or if we need to make any more changes before the public launch. (Thank you, we really appreciate it!)
