Speaking for myself, Lizzy gave me some neat pictures to work with and the positioning made me think of a photoshoot. To the trope itself, I'd probably go with the idea that "Baby Pictures" are a universal enough experience to tap into, especially when taking a picture in of itself is still a mundane activity regardless of age so it's an easy set up and conceit as well as a transitional element. Not everyone has bathroom accidents past age 5 (or being very very sick) Many many more people have had to go take pictures and pose in front of a camera: Family portraits, school picture day, yearbook, headshots for auditions and yes baby pictures. So it's an easier experience to tap into and relate to.
