its kinda like the anti rick and morty. where as rick and morty wants to try to be this pseudo intellectual thing that wants you to be cynical, Smiling Friends just wants to make you smile and tries to give at least a positive message. like the last episode was about finding purpose even if it was in an absurd way.

2024-08-14 09:09:44 +0000 UTConly the pilot episode came out in 2020, it was a desperate passion project created by 2 extremely famous internet animators. they got their pilot greenlit and released on april fools 2020 , and the massive groundswell from their pre-television fanbases convinced AS to give them a full season, which came out in 2022. but zach hadel has been making millions of views animations on newgrounds and youtube for well over a decade. so starting from episode 2, this was all aired in 2022. thats why theres so much time between seasons. the 2020 pilot only got them greenlit to begin production for the full season sometime by the end of that year, and season 2 was only greenlit once the first full season was such a success. season 3 will probably be a lot quicker. maybe a year and a half instead of two and a half they had between 1 and 2
