I don't think she was listening to a word of any of that, haha. Vicksburg Ellie, bless her heart is vacant and in extreme pain, hardly cares what was going on down below. A zoom on her makes it a bit more clear. Goes even deeper into that trance as the comic goes along.

I can imagine the coarse bark on the trees, I feel the drag of the snow on my boots. I can feel the sag in Ellie's chitin catching on the limbs and twigs. All that prep paid off big-time.

And Ellie's face is rather funny-- "Say whaaaaaa??? I can't believe the bullshit he's saying!" She looks surprised, shocked, & disbelieving.
