Elk needed a new "condition" since her recovery from the decay last year, and people have joked about the scenario of Ellie meeting Elk, but I could never work out how to make something like that seem natural, so all that bull shit I posted about the parade/vampire bar was a way to lead in the Velluto content, implying "Elk" and Ellie were present in the same zone, and then killing Elk. With her being "out of the picture" the world she's created and its inhabitants are running amok, with Ellie leading the charge and obviously the one to be responsible for this disturbance. We can look at "Elk Hunt" as something Elk is manifesting in her compromised state. The second account also assuring it isn't "canon" either.
