I think it exposes a blatant sexism that whenever Swifties do some fuck shit there’s a thousand memes and podcasts about how they’re a cult but Kanye’s fans can throw your divorce in your face, shit on jews as a people, and defend white lives matter and we kinda accept it as “Oh that’s just Kanye’s fans.” To be clear, I am not a swiftie and actually enjoyed 1 song on Vultures but I cannot stand how as a culture music nerds seem to not give female fanbases the same treatment they give male fanbases, not excusing anything swifties have done mind you.

2024-02-27 18:57:11 +0000 UTCWhy did you never review albums from any of the big pop artists of the late 2000s and early 2010s like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Kesha, Bruno Mars in your earlier reviews? Do you regret not reviewing any of these artists records in particular today?

2024-02-21 03:02:51 +0000 UTCI once looked up if you had ever commented or reacted to one of my favorite bands (Red Vox ftr), and apparently you only had once, on a live stream, and your immediate reaction was to turn it off and say it was an embarrassing recommendation. No hate, obviously if you didn't like it you didn't like it, and I doubt you even remember doing it. But I was wondering what you consider as "giving a fair shake" to an album. At what point is a reaction knee jerk, how do you know you don't need to listen to any more? FTR I recommend their album Another Light, quite enjoyable.

2024-02-21 01:14:05 +0000 UTCJust one more thing to add on: when Peggy mentioned the fact that what he was doing was hypocritical in the now deleted tweets he posted about the whole thing, instead of him acknowledging and holding himself accountable for it, he decided to shift the blame onto his own fans for being “too online” and “reading into it too deep” as if none of what Kanye has been doing mattered to him now, even though it obviously seemed like it did matter to Peggy in the past.
2024-02-19 12:54:29 +0000 UTCJPEGMAFIA completely tarnished his artistic integrity by collaborating with Kanye West. in multiple interviews in the past, Peggy acknowledged and understood how awful Kanye’s rhetoric has been in the past few years, and yet still decides to collaborate on and even endorse Vultures despite him knowing full well about Ye’s white supremacist and antisemitic rhetoric. Knowing what Peggy has rapped about, ranted and raved in the favor of in the past (I.e black empowerment, anti-fascism, etc.), he’s a hypocrite for associating with and endorsing someone like Kanye West.
2024-02-19 12:48:58 +0000 UTCTaylor Swift and Ye fanbases have become very similar- the parasocial relationship is very strong and unhealthy - lots of people afraid to criticize or soften criticisms(or don’t at all), dog piling on people who don’t like them, etc.

2024-02-18 20:23:17 +0000 UTCSeparating the art from the artist, if the artist is alive is not only ignoring issues that shouldn't be ignored , it also is causing the music to actively become worse by taking away an important aspect. Albums like " good kid madd city " , " mbdtf " and " Baku WA doctor tony tony chopper " all are masterpieces because they explore the persona of the artist in an interesting way.

2024-02-13 04:41:47 +0000 UTCTough question: do you think the medium of listening (AirPods, vinyl & open backs) really change the experience of an album or song?
2024-02-10 17:35:16 +0000 UTCNot sure this is the best place to put this, but to keep it brief, this is my first Patreon ever and just wanted to let you know you’ve enhanced and improved my life greatly with your content and music you’ve introduced me to. You really have helped me live a happier life. I figured the least I could do is this. Tough question(ish): Are/were you ever a big explosions in the sky fan? I’ve seen your reviews of their last 3, but with them being not so favorable, I was curious if you ever thought much of their 2000’s material? And if not why? (And the tattoo is legendary btw)

2024-02-07 14:30:15 +0000 UTCPop legends from past eras like Elton John or Madonna have a large and exclusively mid album catalogue. They are perceived and assessed by their numerous hits over the years, but the albums these hist are on are noncohesive mediocrity. Has anyone ever listened 'Too low for zero' in its enterity? That shit bland as hell.

2024-02-06 01:20:06 +0000 UTCDon't get me wrong I think both of those LCD Soundsystem records are fantastic, and I also really think Entertainment! sets the bar for dance-punk. You could also maybe argue that This Is Happening is less dance-punk and more alternative dance and indietronica, but I digress (there's still songs on there that are definitely dance-punk, or have dance-punk influences though)

2024-02-05 13:53:49 +0000 UTCI think that’s mainly due to the way Brostep kinda overshadowed the more traditional style of Dubstep. And yeah Skrillex did play a huge part about that, but I also still see people to this day calling other forms of electronic dance music as “dubstep”. Like someone would listen to an electro house track and think “dubstep”.

2024-02-05 00:51:35 +0000 UTCI feel like people who say Vine was better than TikTok are looking at Vine with rose tinted glasses. While there are some absolute classic videos that came from Vine, it’s not like it didn’t have its fair share of cringeworthy content and creators just like Tiktok does.

2024-02-05 00:48:24 +0000 UTCEntertainment! by Gang of Four is THE dance-punk album. I have never heard a record in that genre more complete, consistent, fun, danceable, and progressive (politically speaking). I will say albums like This Is Happening/Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem, Playing With a Different Sex by Au Pairs, and Triunfo moral by Tus Amigos Nuevos come fairly close, but Entertainment! clears all of them.

Do you have any like DIY stuff your doing or something?

2024-02-04 17:46:11 +0000 UTCBritish rock music is arguably in the healthiest state it has been for a while, we have seen bands like Black Midi, Black Country, New Road and Squid bring something really exciting and original to the table this decade that I think future bands will cite as a key influence (especially the former two). Sam Fender has been the first indie-rock singer-songwriter to break through into the mainstream in the UK for a while and is now selling out stadiums and having top 10 singles. Liam Gallagher's and Arctic Monkeys' shows have also sold out stadiums and even other more established acts such as Thom Yorke (with the Smile and solo) and Noel Gallagher have recently come out with great records IMO.
Stephen
2024-02-04 14:34:21 +0000 UTCBlack Country, New Road should do a film soundtrack soon. The track 'Mark's Theme' from the Ants From Up There record would sound amazing in a score and for me shows potential for them to really excel in that field

2024-02-03 20:36:41 +0000 UTC(In case it doesn’t make the main channel) Travis Scott isn’t only the most overrated feature (same flow/energy)- he often HURTS songs. 2024-02-03 20:06:45 +0000 UTCJazz Fusion is probably the greatest artistic movement in music history. Even the highest highs of other genres don't even come close to the peak of Fusion.
