WiP - Giganta (part 2)

Next up in our list of contestants is Dr. Doris Zeul aka Giganta. It might not be apparent by looking at this, but rest assured that she will be using her singular skill to make a BIG impression in this contest (see? Big, and in upper case letters! Because... I'll see myself out, thank you).
Production notes:
I have always been a fan of Giganta's classic look ever since she appeared in the Super Friends cartoon, so I wanted to draw her looking like that. I used her appearance in Wonder Woman comics drawn by Phil Jimenez as reference. Another top contender for the design was her DCAU version, but I have been trying to limit the references to comic book artists.
The bikini is also inspired by her classic outifit, which is also my personal favorite. Doris has used other suits in her history, but this one is very eye catching and it needed almost no modification.
The real life model for Giganta's poses was Autum Swansen. She looks very tall in all her competition pictures, so it was a surprise to find out she is only 5'6". Either way, her body proportions worked nicely for Doris.
An now I can hear you say "Reqxou (that's me), where is the backstage version?". Well, I decided to draw both her and She-Hulk together in their backstage versions. Which means that I will post them both once I have worked on Jennifer, so kep an eye on the updates, since one of the more awaited contestants is coming now!

You can thank Sheena, Queen of the Jungle for starting that trend in comics with her 1937 debut.

2024-09-18 06:12:13 +0000 UTCEh, it was of a certain time, but it was one of the longest-running DC Comics-based animated adaptations (running for pretty much two decades, like the DCAU). I've even had the pleasure of meeting a few voice actors from the show, such as Michael Bell (Zan of the Wonder Twins, the Riddler). And admittedly, the writing got significantly better by the time of 'The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians'. I mean, in that season alone, we got a pretty heavy "Death of Superman" story AND it was the first TV show to depict Batman's origin outside of the comics.

Funny you should mention Super Friends, because I just added the complete series DVD set (which covers EVERYTHING from the 1973 first series to ‘The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians’) to my media library yesterday.
