“When is she going to get here?” whined Annie, who was dressed in a full black cat costume and held on a leash by Thea just ]o make sure she didn’t get in trouble. “There’s bowls of candy, and concerts, and candy, and games, and candy!”

“Just be patient” said Thea in a loving voice. “I’m sorry girls. No one was around to watch her.” She adjusted her costume, which was thrown together at the last minute. A nice looking suit and a bunch of green body paint to pull off a credible She-Hulk.

“It’s OK” said Grace, dressed as Tinkerbell. “Besides, Karin shouldn’t take too long…”

“Wait wait… are you?” Leena said looking over Sophie and Lucy’s costume. “Holy crap, from Jujutsu Kaisen!?”

“Yep!” said Sophie. “I’m Yuji Itadori. Well Rule #63 Yuji Itadori”

“And I’m Sukuna, the lord of curses, not that I want to be attached to this troublesome idiot” said Lucy, putting on her gruffest tough guy voice.

“That’s so cool. I thought I was going to be the only one cross playing!” said Leena exicted.

“Oh yeah!” said Sophie… a little embarrassed. “You are… uh… gold arm.. punchy… guy…” She looked to Lucy and shrugged.

“What? Come on, you know who I am. Here’s a hint, I’m very angry?” Leena looked to Thea, Grace, and Annie, none of them had any clue what she was talking about. “I was the star of my own video game? On the PS3? Everyone wanted me in Marvel vs. Capcom and I never got in? Anyone?” Everyone just kept shrugging awkwardly. “GAH! I’m Asura from Asura’s Wrath! Come on! Don’t any of you have taste!? It was Capcom’s hidden gem on the PS3! People said it was like playing a living anime and-“

“Anyway” said Thea cutting off Leena before she could go on another nerd fueled rant about an obscure video game. “That’s all of us. Maddie and Access are cleaning up the lab for reopening and Carl’s getting ready to enter the costume contest.”

“He always wins…” sulked Lucy.

“So all we are missing is… Karin?” Thea cocked her head to the side as she saw Karin walking up to the group, wearing a fairly normal skirt and top.

“Sorry I’m late girls,” Karin said with a perky smile. “Getting ready was a hassle.”

“Karin?” Leena said quizzically “Weren’t you going to dress up?”

“Yeah! I am dressed up?” Karin said. “Can’t you tell.”

“Uh, what are you supposed to be?” said Sophie.

“You know. Just take a look at me.” Karin said.

“The popular girl!” Said Annie excitedly.

“No… well yes… but come on guys you are usually better than this. It should be obvious.” Karin said with a smirk.

“Uh…. I’m sorry honey” Thea said. “You just look like a normal girl with a purse to me.”

“Normal girl with a purse! Come on guys. You know the deal. Every year Access goes crazy with some wacky Halloween themed DNA projects and I always get to go as something spooky but in real life! He does all the work for me!” Karin said with a laugh.

“Wait… so every year you just throw on normal clothes over whatever mutation you are testing?” Sophie said.

“Yep! It’s perfect! I don’t have to spend any money.” Karin said with a confident smile.

“Uh Karin…” Leena said poking her on the shoulder. “The lab hasn’t reopened since quarantine.”

“The… wha?” Karin said.

“Yes hon, that’s why Access and Maddie are there right now,” said Thea. “They are trying to get everything in order so experiments can start again.”

“You mean?” Karin whimpered, her face going white.

“You haven’t been experimented on for eight or so months Karin… You look normal right now.” said Grace, holding up a pocket mirror for her to get a good look at herself.

“Crap, crap crap crap CRAP! I just walk out the door every year and I always look like a monster around Halloween time! I didn’t even stop to think things would be different this year!?” Karin slowly started to realize she was the only one without a costume here. Her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment.

“Wait, you are so spacey you forgot you weren’t mutated?” asked Leena.

“Shut it spider! OK, OK you have to help me somehow guys. Uh… uh… DNA. You have to get me DNA.” Karin said in a panic.

“DNA?” said Leena quizzically.

“Yes, idiot! That’s how my mutation works! You expose me to enough DNA and my own DNA combines with it. It’s how the little gremlin can keep mutating me into all those weird fetishes of his.”

“What DNA?” Asked Annie to Thea innocently.

“Oh, honey, it’s complicated. But it’s like, something special that makes us who we are,” said Thea.

“Oh! Well where do you get it then? Can we buy some in the store?” Annie asked again.

“No!” barked Karin frustrated. You get it from blood and spit and other stuff like that.

“Spit! I can help then!” Annie suddenly pounced on Karin and pinned her to the floor.

“Wait what are you!? MMMPH!” Karin protested before being cut off by a sudden and surprisingly deep and slobbery kiss from Annie.

Thea scrambled to tug her off. “Sorry sorry! When she gets an idea in her mind she just kind of goes with it!”

Karin acked and coughed and spit. “Get off of me you little runt! Who let her here! Besides I need a lot more DNA than that to…. Too… nnngh grrrrk.” Karin suddenly fell to the floor, breathing heavily.

“Karin… are you…. Ok?” said Sophie.

“Guuh mmmm my body… what did you.. doooooo….. NNNGHH” Karin could feel her muscles bulking up. She turned to the group and looked at them through yellow eyes. She breathed heavily, her chest rising and falling. Her tongue started growing out of her mouth, flattening. Her teeth started sharpening.

The blinked “Annie… what?”

“I helped!” Annie said. “Annie’s whatcha callit, a werewuff.”

Karin snarled, Her muscles grew bigger, ripping through her pantyhose. Her nails sharpened and ripped out of her fingertips. Dark pads grew on her palms. The bones in her feet crrrrracked as they grew longer, her thighs bulking up. She tried to stand, but found she couldn’t get up off all fours.

“You’re a dog mutant honey,” said Thea.

“Dogs are wuffs! I’m just a very cute wuff!”

Karin was grunting in pain. Her ears pointed. Her spine crrruunched and twisted around, pushing against her backside until it exploded out into a tail. Her nose turned up, her clothes completely shredded, she whipped her head back and let loose a powerful howl. “AWROOOOOOOOOO!”

Annie joined along with her “AWROOOOOOOOOO!”

The lab girls stood there in stunned silence as they watched the new canine Karin walking on all fours. “Are you OK?” Grace asked.

Karin looked up and in a voice that almost completely mirrored Annie’s own cuteness said, “Karin is great! Karin wants to play!?”

Annie gasped. “Karin wants to play? But Annie wants to play!?”

Karin gasped back “Then Karin and Annie should play!!”

Annie jumped for joy “Yay lets play!”

Both of them ran out into the crowd Karin’s shredded clothing almost completely tearing off her body as she did. Thea started running after them, briefly losing her grasp on Annie’s leash. “Wait! Both of you come back!!!”

Leena looked to Sophie, Lucy, and Grace “So uh… does anyone else have, like, a lot of questions right now?”

“I’m taking notes and sending them to Maddie” said Grace with a sigh.

“Work’s going to be crazy when we get back,” said Sophie. “I guess we’ll have to-“

“AND THE WINNER OF THE ANNUAL PORT SOLEI COSTUME CONTEST IS!” blared the loudspeakers. “CARL!!!!”

“Dammit! We missed the costume contest again!” sighed Lucy.

“Well, if we don’t have plans anymore, maybe we should chase after Annie and Karin before they start too much trouble,” said Grace with a soft smile.

“Just leave it to me,” said Leena. “No one can escape these fists!” she said in a gruff overactive anime voice.

Everyone just looked at her awkwardly.
