King in Marvel- CH-121. Ugly and Disabled
Added 2025-03-05 04:52:08 +0000 UTCWhen a gunshot rang out, Michael frowned slightly and turned his head. A bullet fell from his body to the ground, unable to penetrate the ether suit.
The police who had been chasing Nick Fury had caught up without realizing it. They didn't see Nick Fury but noticed Michael beating the Winter Soldier. Since the Winter Soldier was one of their own, they opened fire to stop Michael.
But they didn't expect the bullets to have no effect on him.
Seeing Michael turn and walk toward them, they panicked and fired wildly. Bullets clattered against Michael's body, but he didn't even attempt to dodge. With a slight flick of his wrist, the two swords of fear swung into action. In an instant, Michael vanished, and screams erupted one after another. The police collapsed to the ground, unable to react.
Michael moved like a ghost, reaping lives effortlessly. Before they knew it, only one officer remained.
Michael walked toward him slowly. The man's face was twisted in horror, his body trembling uncontrollably. "Don't come any closer! If you take another step, I'll shoot! I'll shoot!" Fear had shattered his composure. He screamed hysterically, his finger frantically pulling the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The muzzle flashed brightly as bullets sprayed toward Michael. But strangely, after the barrage ended, the bullets stopped mid-air, hovering motionlessly in front of him.
The officer saw Michael smile—a smile that seemed almost pitying.
Then, he witnessed the last moments of his life as the suspended bullets reversed course and flew back toward him.
He felt countless bullets pierce his body before he collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Michael sheathed the two fearful blades and turned back toward the Winter Soldier.
After taking two steps, he felt a massive vibration. The glass on nearby cars and buildings shattered. Michael staggered back, startled, and saw a figure with an androgynous appearance standing not far away.
With her shamatte style and ambiguous gender presentation, she was so distinctive that Michael recognized her immediately.
Whoosh!
A strong gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, and the Winter Soldier vanished. In the blink of an eye, a woman with a similarly non-mainstream style appeared beside the androgynous figure, holding the Winter Soldier in her arms.
Michael hadn't expected anyone to rescue the Winter Soldier, let alone these two.
This situation had nothing to do with them. How had they gotten involved? And their timing was too precise to be coincidental. It seemed more like they were part of the same group...
Arclight, the woman with the shamatte look, had an androgynous appearance that made her stand out. Her ability allowed her to create earthquake-like air pressure shockwaves with her hands. This power was somewhat similar to Daisy's future abilities, though Daisy's were more versatile and far more potent.
The other woman was Callisto, whose power was rapid movement. She was an agile melee fighter with an additional ability: she could sense the power levels and attributes of all mutants nearby. Essentially, she functioned like a mutant detector.
Both were members of Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants. Arclight was more of a supporting character, akin to the mythological "giant spirit" who appears first in battles, fights briefly, and retreats when outmatched. Callisto, on the other hand, was more capable and valued by Magneto. Her ability to detect mutants and their powers made her an invaluable asset for strengthening the Brotherhood.
Callisto's rapid movement ability also made her a formidable opponent.
Despite her non-mainstream style—short, spiky hair, a lip stud, and a leather outfit that barely contained her bust—Michael found her appearance unappealing. Even with her striking figure, she didn't interest him. As the saying goes, 'you need the best appetite to eat it.'
Though their looks left much to be desired, Michael was more curious about why they were here and why they seemed intent on rescuing the Winter Soldier.
They had no connection to the Winter Soldier, and the affairs of Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. were not their concern—at least not without Magneto's orders. This suggested that Magneto had gotten involved.
While Michael had never heard of any collaboration between Magneto and Hydra, it wasn't impossible. The collapse of S.H.I.E.L.D. would benefit Magneto, who had always opposed the mutant registration bill and sought to advance mutant rights—and his own ambitions. Magneto was a ruthless man who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
From a mutant's perspective, he was doing the right thing. But from other viewpoints, Magneto was an outright super-criminal who had committed countless atrocities. To Michael, Magneto was an enemy.
Previously, Magneto had sent the mutant Tornado to deal with Michael. After that failed, he had vanished without a trace, as if nothing had happened. Now, he had sent his mutants to rescue the Winter Soldier right in front of Michael.
"Put the man down, and I'll let you two go," Michael said coolly, looking at Arclight and Callisto.
"If you want him, come and take him yourself!" Arclight retorted arrogantly, clearly underestimating Michael. Though she had heard of his strength, she believed the stories were exaggerated, 'How easy could it be to devour others' abilities?' She thought, 'Even if he can do it, all I need to do is avoid letting him touch me.'
"We're only here to rescue him, and we *will* bring him back." Callisto said, her tone more measured but her resolve equally firm.
"Then I guess there's no other way." Michael said with a shrug.
Bang!
He extended his arms and suddenly clapped his hands together. A loud *bang* echoed as a vibrating shockwave surged toward Michael. The ground cracked under the force, gravel flying into the air as the atmosphere seemed to freeze.
A smug smile spread across Arclight's face.
"Think you're so great? Let's see how great you are now."
The shockwave reached Michael in an instant, but he didn't flinch. A dark green energy wall materialized in front of him, blocking the attack.
Arclight's expression faltered, her confidence wavering. She prepared to strike again, but Callisto intervened, "Don't be impulsive. Completing the mission is our priority."
"Take him back first." Arclight said firmly.
Callisto nodded, grabbed the Winter Soldier, and vanished in a blur.
Michael watched them go but didn't give chase.
"I'm curious." Michael said, his voice icy as he turned to Arclight, "Who gave you the courage to stay and fight me?"
Arclight sneered, "I've heard all about how powerful you are. You're not even a mutant, yet Magneto wants to recruit you into the Brotherhood. I just want him to know that *we* mutants are the strongest. He doesn't need you!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Arclight clapped her hands three times rapidly, sending three shockwaves toward Michael, each stronger than the last. Michael shook his head as the energy wall absorbed the attacks. He couldn't help but wonder why Arclight had such a murderous streak, 'Is she just overconfident, or is she jealous?'
Putting aside the fact that Michael had no intention of joining Magneto, even if he did, Arclight couldn't stop him. Without her, she was just a pawn.
'Do you really think you can act so arrogantly just because you have a little power?'
The shockwaves dissipated, and the energy wall remained intact.
Arclight grew visibly anxious, "If you've got the guts, fight me! What's the point of hiding behind that wall?"
"I just think killing you would dirty my hands. You're the dumbest person I've ever met." Michael said, shaking his head. He raised his hand, and Arclight was yanked toward him as if by an invisible force.
She tried to activate her powers, but her hands were immobilized.
"Is this all you've got? You're so arrogant, yet this is your limit? Is there something wrong with your brain?" Michael said, watching her struggle with a mix of pity and disdain.
"Kill me if you dare! But if you do, Magneto will never let you go. He'll avenge me!" Arclight spat.
